Hello,

You will have to be familiar with using your keyboard in operating the laptop. press the microsoft key that looks like the microsoft logo, use the direction button to locate the control panel, then you select the mouse and turn on the mousepad.

You can as well connect an external wireless mouse by plugging in the dongle and following up the process done with the keyboard.

Try to remove the battery and fix it back before starting any of the process.

Take care and good luck

How to disable touchpad sony va10 computer

If you have VAIO Central installed, try this link.

Otherwise try:
1. Click Start, and select Control panel.
2. Click Mouse under the classic view.
3. Click the Device Settings tab.
4. Select the touchpad device.
5. Click Disable.
Note: Make sure you remember to turn it back on before you disconnect the external mouse.
If the above steps do not help, do the following:
1. Go to C:\Program Files\Sony\Setting Utility Series and run VCCPointingDevice.exe
2. Uncheck the "Enable" checkbox.
This should disable the touchpad device.
Note: Make sure you remember to turn it back on before you disconnect the external mouse.
If the above steps do not help, I'd suggest you to contact Sony support:

Or try looking at F1 to F12 keys, maybe one has a symbol of a touchpad, if it does, hold down Fn key while pressing it.

My mouse has stoped workin i just turned the lap top of and turned it back on again and it wansnt working the click button does'nt work either.

If you are referring to an actual "regular" mouse, unplug it from the USB and try plugging back in again.

If you are referring to the "TouchPad" type on a laptop, usually there is a tiny button near the touchpad that you may have inadvertently shut off by hitting it. Mine is right at the top part toward the screen, but still part of the touchpad. If you can't find the little button then refer to your manual if you got one to find out where the off button is for your touchpad and turn it back on.

hope this helps, if not I will check further to see what to do!

My touchpad is not working for click(touch) operation. I feel that this started happening after plug in a USB mouse

When you plug in a USB mouse, the touchpad is usually automatically disabled. Look in your control panel under Mouse or Pointing devices. You will want to look at the settings to ensure that your touchpad turns back on after you unplug the mouse. If your touchpad is NOT returning to normal functionality after you unplug the mouse, try the "safely remove hardware" option (If you have windows). Look in the lower right corner of your screen. If you have a small green arrow icon that safes "safely remove hardware" when you put the mouse pointer over it, click on it. If the mouse shows up in the list, highlight it, and click Stop. You can then remove the mouse when Windows tells you it's safe to do so. This may then return full functionality of the touchpad. In some cases, the mousepad click functionality will be disabled if a USB mouse is plugged in. It can remain so if the system doesn't fully acknowledge that the mouse has been removed. That's why I'm suggesting to try the "Safely Remove Hardware" option first. If that doesn't work, there may be a physical problem with your touchpad and it will need to be serviced.

I brought my computer to geek squad to check something and when i got it back the touchpad was disabled, how do i turn it back on?

1. Go to the "Control Panel" and double click on the "Mouse" item.
2. Go through the tabs in the "Mouse Properties" window & find the tab where you can set up your touchpad. This differs from laptop to another since it is based on the touchpad's drivers.
3. On that tab, check & make sure that your touchpad is enabled. If it is not, then change the setting to enabled.
4. Click "Apply" to apply the changes, then close the "Mouse Properties" window.

If you cannot find a tab to set up your touchpad, then your touchpad drivers might not be installed. In this case, you will need to install them first.

If the above does not work, then chance are that your touchpad's connector (which connects the device to the laptop's motherboard) is either loosely connected or not connected at all. You will need to open your laptop to be able to check & correct this.

Can't "tap" on my Dell touchpad

I had the same problem after purchasing an HP laptop with a Synaptics TouchPad. After using a wireless mouse for awhile, the TouchPad stopped working. The TouchPad light was white, indicating it was enabled. No TouchPad devices was listed anymore in the Mouse Properties in the Control Panel. I tried reloading the driver but nothing changed.

After shutting down the laptop and removing the battery (according to owner’s manual) it worked again. After turning on the laptop, make sure the TouchPad works. Then go to Control Panel, Mouse, Device Settings tab, and make sure a Synaptics TouchPad is listed in the Devices list and that the Enable button is grayed out.

Mouse pad not working

A mouse pad is a thing you put your mouse on....

now what you are talking about is your touchpad.

Check these first:

  • some laptops have a switch that turns off the touch pad (usually a button right on the topside of the touchpad)
  • did you reboot completely? full shutdown, then power on?
  • goto the device manager (with a usb mouse of course) and find the touchpad... delete the device... then reboot again it should try and find the touchpad and ask for the driver, point it to the directory that you have the driver located.
good luck!
