Question about Acer AL1916W 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

I have two AL2216W acer monitors on a very powerful custom built machine for around two years now ... the machine was recently reloaded and now I have a constant "no signal" problem ... never before this has happened. I have read now somewhere there might be some problem with Windows XP and that some fix need to be run. (Also with Vista but I choose to stay with XP for the moment). The problem seems to sort it out by itself before with a few reboots and unplugging of random wires but it has since yesterday refuse to respond positively. I have tried the 30 seconds thing described above but no luck. Maybe the pavement is the answer ...

When you get no signal problem , you should find out if the correct video card driver is installed, reseat the video card, RAM. I guess you already try this monitor with other PC and it is OK.

Thank you for the response. I got it going again (ok but has done so before) it seems however that the screens refresh rate was set to low and that possibly caused that the monitors did not "understand" the signal from the PC.

I have an Acer Monitor AL2216W and it will come on, the Acer name appears, then no signal and then the green light goes to orange. Is this the power supply or what?

It will go into sleep mode if it does not detect the signal from the PC. Try is with other PC first, also make sure the cable is seated properly.Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide:

Acer AL2216W 22" LCD monitor. DVI input apparently

Not Good..
After you've checked that the video cable is connected properly, make sure that all the pins in the video cable plugs are straight and not broken off. Then test on another PC. Make sure your CMOS battery has not gone flat, as some PC's will fail to load basic drivers if CMOS memory is lost. The battery should show no less than 2.5v, if it's marked 3 volts when tested on a multimeter. If you can't test it, just buy a new one at the supermarket or hardware, usually around $4.00.
Next thing to try is your Video Card . If it is an on board one like most are now, there isn't anything you can do but try another card in an expansion slot or fit a new motherboard. At this point, I'm sad to say, you're better taking it to a PC shop where they will have a few things at their disposal to try.

Acer AL2216W 22" LCD monitor. DVI

You may have problem in the logic board, it uses surface monted components no much chance for DIY repair.
Service manual; http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresult&megnev=Acer&megnev2=AL2216W&kategoria=monitor&kat2=all

The cases these days are hard to open, they use plastic finger hooks types, they go in easy but real hard to remove without damageing them.
Use thin flat blade to crack open at the bottom edge so the scratches will not be so noticeable, and work your way around, look out for cables attached to the front bezel also.

Why do I have to re-start my Acer AL2216w monitor several times before it will stay on?

Hello,

Slow starting, no power or a flickering display are all indications of a failing power supply. Check out this article on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/repairing-the-acer-al2216w-lcd-monitor/ The power supply board in your monitor should be the DAC-19M010. To correct the problem you will need to replace the capacitors that are failing. You will need to replace 7 capacitors on the board. This does involve a bit of soldering but is an easy thing to do. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service, you can get the details of that here: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/service-request-form/ If you have any questions just let us know.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

My Acer AL2216W won't power on

This sounds like it could be your inverter or backlight. I would recommend taking it into a local computer shop and having it checked out.

Same problem, acer sucks imo

I think I may have fixed it but I haven't rebooted my computer yet. I uninstalled the latest ATI driver version 9.3 and then installed an older driver version 7.3. Monitor now turns on and off and gets signal every time so far. I'll post back if it the problem comes back after I reboot.
