Microsoft office 2010 is a commercial product, you need to purchase the license key.

Alternatively you can use openoffice which is free.

If you lost your product key you can contact Microsoft and they should be able to help you replace it. If you don't have a product key you will need to purchase a product key from Microsoft or an authorized re-seller.

Got no product key. when try to access pre installed on laptop it asks for one

The Microsoft Office 2010 you have on your computer which is preinstall is just a starter version which means its a trial version. you would need to purchase a license version of the office product. you may go to this website to check for the license microsoft office product www.buyoffice.microsoft.com or call them at 1-800-Microsoft (642-7676).

I have microsoft office 2010 and a back up disk. everything else works apart from publisher which constantly asks for product key. when i put it in it still wont let me use it

Hello:
Microsoft Office 2010 has three different versions. Confirm that you have Office Professional, the only version that includes Microsoft Publisher.
If you do have Professional, you should try to 'repair' the Publisher Installation. You can do this by inserting your Office installation/backup disk and running setup.exe. There should be an option to change the products that you installed and the ability to 'repair' the installation. This will essentially reinstall Publisher without disrupting your other programs and settings.
