No connectivity at all

I was trying to resolve a problem where my laptop could not access the internet after connecting to the network (weird....It said "excellent connection"...However, I could not access to the iternet!!???). Then I did something wrong (Don't ask me what, cause I don't know!) and now I had to take the router totally out of the picture in order to have internet access. I need my router bck, cause I have 3 more laptops that ned wireless access.... Please help!

Please check in the Network connection whether the Connection status shows Limited/Local only.
If in case the it shows Limited Only, then follow the steps:
1) Unistall Network Driver and restart then Reinstall the Network Driver.
2) Installed Updated Driver from the Manufacture Site. restart.
3) This should resolve the issue. If the connection status show Connected/ Internet. Then Configure the Wireless connection, by accessing the Router. Check the Router configuration and computer's configuration,.

No net connectivity

If you encounter difficulties accessing computers that are visible on the network map, make sure the computer being accessed has an account with the same name/password as the system connecting to it uses to login.

To set up Network Sharing between XP and Windows Vista, please note that File and Printer Sharing is different in Windows Vista than from the setup in Windows XP.

On a computer running Windows XP, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Network Connections.
Click Local Area Network Connection, click Properties, and then view the list of items used by the network connection.
Ensure that the Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder check box is selected.

If you're running a wireless network, make sure all computers on the network use the same network name, for instance "My network" Home Network etc. one can't say "MS HOME" and the computer you're using say "My Network"

I cannot connect to the Internet via a wireless connection on a laptop, and am only able to ping in safe mode. A Time-Warner expert believes that it is a virus or Trojan, but I have been able to connect...

post more details

in the mean time try this:

1. if it's a virus or malware clean up your computer (use AVG or avast for virus clean up and Spybot S&D, adware se, and a-squared for other malware.. all of them are free). make sure you update the programs and run them 1 or 2 times depending how contaminated your system is.

2. repair your internet adapter's connection:. in network connections, select right click your network adapter and select repair.. see if you get an valid ip address different from 0.0.0.0

3. Do you have access to your access point / router on the network you have problems with.
you need to have the SSID for your Access point (router) and a key or passphrase (if setup) if you don't have those check with your network administrator

4. did you mess around with the internet options?.. open your browser go into tools, internet options, security tab and reset your internet settings for the internet zone to default.

5. check you are within range and that your wireless adapter is on.

good luck and post more details to be assisted further if needed.
