Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have a GE model GDL20KSCABS that started making a loud clicking noise about 2 months ago. Sometimes the clicking goes on for a long time at a rate of nearly every second. I pulled the fridge out and opened the motherboard panel. The clicking seems to be coming from there. I think the fridge is only a few years old now, any ideal what the problem could be? Its driving me nuts!! but otherwise the fridge seems to work fine.

what will that cost to get the parts and have them installed, or is this something I could do myself? Who should I call in Seattle to do this work?

The main control board has a few relays on it and when they get energized, they click. If there are no problems with the temperature in both parts of the fridge, don't do anything. If you are having a temp issue or don't want to hear the click anymore then you will need to replace the main board and defrost thermostat.

Very Loud Ice Maker in GE gfss6kkxs Fridge

Sorry to inform you but GE refrigerators are known for their noise making machines. I myself have a GE Profile side by side but will never own another GE product. After repairing appliances GE is better priced than their competition and the reason cheaper made product. Sometimes cheaper doesn't mean better. Outside looks really good but what you don't see is ugly. BB

Sounds like the defrost timer doing its job but with loud efforts. GE is known for its different sounds some clanks to clicks to popping. Thank God for good hearing but curse GE for its poor noise reduction efforts. This is why GE is cheaper than its other competitors. They cut corners welcome to the world of GE. BB

That is definitely a problem from the fan. What you can do is to call sony and check if they still cover Fan replacement for this specific mode.

New GE Profile Dryer makes intermittent loud squeeking or rubbing

Your drum may be out of round. The drum belt on the outside of the drum may be rubbing against the cabinet. When the cabinet heats up, the side walls of the cabinet may be bowing inward, thus making contact with the belt on the drum. This would explain why it is intermittant. When the heater turns off, the cabinet cools and the sides bow back out.
