Question about Bosch 12-Amp Formula Canister Vacuum with Hepa Filtration Bagged Vacuum
I have the same problem on my 2-month old brush! It's an older model, so no reset buttons are available. Unfortunately for me, customer service was no help. I took a flat screw driver, opened the casing and started exploring. Wires were all connected and the is was turning the brush if the motor turns. I haven't fixed it just yet, but I think my problem is that the wires are cut just before entering into the long tube connecting to the vacuum (I have a canister vacuum). Even though the yellow coating of the wires were not cut through, you could tell they looked a little skimpy and sure enough, when held to the light you could tell the wires were not connected inside the yellow coating. I think this should be an easy fix enough that I can do it by myself. I recommend that you look inside your brush as well and see if it's anything obvious.

Easiest fix would be to check to see if the belt is broken or not moving.
If it is not broken yet not moving then most likely the brush that it turns is frozen.
Follow the directions to change the belt. Once you get the brush out of the unit clean it as best you can. Spray some WD40 on the plastic tabs at the ends that hold it into the vacuum head.
When reassembling, might as well add a new belt.
If you find this solution to be of help, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up rating from you. Paul

when you install the hose connector it trips a switch that switches the vac motor into high speed because the vac path is longer using the hose. check the belt after you remove the front. make sure the direction of rotation is in the direction of belt travel stamped in the impeller. try adjusting the head height

(1) Assure the Brush Control on the hood is NOT set to the OFF position.
(2) Remove the brush assembly by pulling/unlatching it from base on each side.
(3)Does one of the brushes have the drive pin present? It should be about ¼ inch square, and two inches long. It attaches the brushes to the drive mechanism

SOURCE: carpet cleaning brush noise
It's likely that one of the brush roll bearings has worn out. This is not uncommon. I think you'll find that you have to replace both the brush roll and the sole plate at the same time. Dyson sell them together as a kit.

DC7s have two drivebelts that turn the brush bar - one connects the output of the motor to the clutch, the other connects the clutch to the brush bar.
You can check the latter simply by removing the sole plate and looking. Unfortunately the other belt is hidden under a plastic cover, so you cant see if it is okay or not without some dismantling. This cover is not easy to remove and requires a Torx driver to under the securing screws.
If, after removing the cover, the other belt is okay, then you have a faulty clutch. New clutches are available oneBayreasonably cheaply, but again good tools and DIY skills are required.
Have a look atwww.dysonmedic.comwhich has some excellent info on dismantling and repairing a DC 07, but unless you haveaccessto such tools, and feel confident to tackle it, it's probably time tocallDyson or aVacuumrepairer.

Tips for a great answer:
CARPETS OR HARD FLOORS
• The brush bar will always default to 'ON' (spinning) each time you switch the
appliance 'ON' and recline it for cleaning.
• The brush bar will not rotate when the appliance is upright.
• To switch the brush bar 'OFF' (e.g. for delicate rugs and hard floors):
- switch the appliance 'ON'
- recline the appliance
- press the brush bar 'ON/OFF' button - the brush bar will stop spinning.
• The brush bar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed. See 'Brush bar -
• Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs and carpets, check the manufacturer's
recommended cleaning instructions.
• Some carpets may fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this
happens, we recommend vacuuming in 'hard floor' mode and consulting with
the flooring manufacturer.
• The brush bar on the appliance may damage some carpet types. If you are
unsure, turn 'OFF' the brush bar.
