Question about Televison & Video

I bought on credit a SAMSUNG LCD HDTV Model LA37B530P7R last August of 2009, it was performing well until lately this October it just happened one day that I observed very faint flickering dark lines streaming down the screen more noticeeable when the scenes are in daylight.I immediately have it checked with the local cable tv service provider and they surmised it is not due to their connection but on the tv. Two days later, as I was away in work, my wife notified me that when they tuned in the tv, they got no picture on the screen but the sound seems good. I immediately went to the store where I bought the unit and asked for the Samsung qualified technician and told my problem. I did not brought my unit first, but he presumed that it might be the lcd display, and he told me it would cost a lot (almost half its price) to have it repaired. I have second thoughts because the it is beyond the 1 year warranty period. I don't have that money now considering my big investment for the tv. I am now stuck so please help me. Thank you very much!

Mostly, when your televisions screen goes blank, it is not due to the lcd display, it most likely is caused by a component in the television.

And mostly is some capacitor on a panel that is causing the problem. Once a problem comes up and has to do with the screen, it is either the lamp is faulty or a capacitor got burnt on the main panel of the television.

You can assess it yourself by unplugging the television for some time and opening it up, then you open the cover protecting the panel and take very close looks at the capacitors (some battery like structures that are erectly placed on the panel) for any one that is burnt.

Once you detect the faulty one, you can replace it with a new one. Also take a close look at the lamp to see if it is not the problem.

Do not let any one reap you off your money, it is quite cheap to get a capacitor or a lamp and the problem is not a lcd display problem. you only have lcd display problem when your television falls or hits a hard object.

Take care

NOTE:' have a local repair man assess the television to explain further. Do not open if you are not familiar with such activities.

My Panasonic TV HDTV Model PT-56TW53 - 52 inches / 1080i I bought the projection TV in October 2003.

This TV has reached well beyond its normal lifespan for the TV type and size. The new LED/LCD displays are so much better that you will wonder why you haven't replaced before now.

Why is my Samsung 32" HDTV shutting off at 6:00 pm everyday?

Being a newer tv it would most likely have some internet connectivity. Check in the settings to see if has an option to update. That may or may not fix the issue. It's worth a try though.

I have a Samsung 46"

Usually in sales, when we hear of this problem my customers tell me that they're told it's not worth fixing.

With the price of newer, better TVs reaching a point where they are considered "disposable," you're going to be seeing a lot of people throwing out their flat panel TVs instead of getting them fixed.

Your best bet is to watch the sales and begin shopping for a new TV. It is the end of the model year right now and the C models are going clearance while waiting for Samsung D models to come out in a few short weeks.

The machine is still under warranty from samsung so I would call 1-800-samsung to find the nearest service center. Problem could be caused by a bad main board, bad lvds cable or a defective t/con board or lcd panel.

Hi I deal with Samsung everyday. Can you not go back to the store where you bought it. their customer service team should be able to push a bit more clarification from Samsung. Also a lot of stores will have a policy where if the unit is away for repair for more than x amount of days/weeks the customer is entitled to a new prduct. Worth a shot!

Flickering screen

If you bought it new in this last August, don't put up with it but get it fixed under the warranty. That is what warranties are for.
