Hello,

Coffee grinders have single-speed switches that can easily become clogged with coffee grounds. They also have problems with dull blades and overheated motors from use. Follow these steps to fix a coffee grinder.

  1. Unplug your coffee grinder and remove the screws underneath the unit to free the baseplate.
  2. Check the power cord. Make sure your power cord appears to be in good working order. Any scrapes or problems with your power cord can cause coffee grinders to not work properly.
  3. Check the brushes on the motor. Look to see if they appear to be worn or damaged. If they are, you should replace the brushes.
  4. Take apart the grinder part of your coffee grinder, if it appears your motor shaft is frozen in one place. Clean the shaft and lubricate it with one or two drops of a lightweight machine oil at each bearing point. Move the shaft around several times to distribute the oil.
  5. Brush all coffee grounds out from the switches of your coffee grinder. If your grinder runs intermittently or doesn't seem to stop when you want it to, chances are you have coffee grounds clogging your switches. Use a toothpick to push out any coffee grounds from your switches. If you find grounds inside your grinder itself, chances are you have a faulty seal and you should replace the seal.
  6. Push your motor shaft back and forth. If your motor shaft moves, your bearing is bad and your grinder needs to be replaced.
  7. Check the blades on your grinder, if your grinder tends to vibrate. If one of your blades is bent, you need to replace the blades.
I hope this helps.

Good luck.

    Hello,

If this screw is not a standard screw, then there should be something else that can be used to disassemble the grinder.

The grinder has to be opened through other means in order to gain access to the internal part of it. Maybe there is a special screw driver that is used to open the grinder.

    Take care.

How to change a grinder blade on a ryobi grinder

Handheld grinder or bench grinder? I'll assume you're asking about a handheld grinder.

Engage the arbor lock. You may need to rotate the wheel until you find the spot where the arbor lock locks the wheel. Use a wrench or a gloved hand to unscrew the wheel (I use my bare hand). Screw the replacement wheel on and disengage the arbor lock. The new wheel doesn't need to be very tight, it'll tighten itself as you work.

While grinding heard noise as if a foreign object was in the grinder. The grinder started smoking. Unplugged grinder. Any suggestions on repair?

You will have to dismantle the grinder, removing the 2 bolts at front, then working your way back to the grind chamber, You can find the diagrams for the machine on bunn.com

Hi - I have a miele cva5060 coffee machine. The grinder has stopped working, any ideas or solutions?

Sounds like grinder, over heated or got jammed by foriegn item (stone, pebble, etc...). If it over heated, then wait a few minutes, and then try again. Grinder also has a heat fuse that may have burnt out. If grinder doesn't work, after waiting 15 minutes, then a technician may have to replace grinder.

Incanto sirius states grinder blocked. Took apart

I own a Saeco Incanto Deluxe. It employs the ceramic grinder that has worked flawlessly for 3-4 years. One day it stopped and "Grinder Blocked" appeared. I removed the entire grinder unit, cleaned it thoroughly and calibrated the grinder. This did not fix the problem. After many similar attempts, I found the entire grinder assembly (motor, grinder etc.) online for $149.00. Install of the new assembly took me five minutes and it works perfectly. Please note that the ceramic grinding blades (there are two round ones that must be aligned corrrectly) cost $40 a piece (same site where I found the entire assembly for $149). My suggestion--save yourself the agony and replace the assembly if cleaning and calibration fails.

Espresso coffee grinder stopped working

many grinders have resetable termic fuse, some of them require manual reset, so you should search for termic fuse attached to body of motor(open the grinder from below) usualy they are round black termofuses with red reset button.
usualy this happenes when we have loud music and we dont hear that grinder is on and he works long time.

Regular grinder and die grinder difference

Die grinders are specialty handheld power tools designed to shape and polish the insides of cylindrical objects. They have long thin spindles and shafts that allow them to reach deep inside the work piece. Die grinders are usually used in machine and metal working operations to port and polish the insides of piping and plumbing systems and joints

Grinder Types

Bench grinders are perfect for sharpening cutters, bits, blades and hand tools. Any piece that needs smoothing, shaping, or polishing can be done at the bench grinder. Straight grinders or angle grinders are portable, handheld tools with wheels that range from 4 to 9 inches. They are the best grinders for working on pieces that may be too large to fit at a bench.
