The reason you have a popping sound is because there is a component that is being bridged on a panel in the television, which could be on the HD part. This can be as a result of excess heat in the unit melting off some lead and causing it to be bridged and causing some problems.
Yes you can get it fixed and yes you can have problems on just one the HD input only.
