Remove the battery pack and or unplug the power. Hit the reset button and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then you can plug it back in and use as normal. If this condition persists, then you should take it in for repair.

FOLLOW this steps and fix it. God bless you

·
Fully charge the Sony digital Handycam. If the camera is not powering on or shutting down during the middle of a shoot, it is due to the battery. If the battery is unable to hold a charge (this occurs after a few years of use) you must replace the lithium-ion batter.
· 2
Press the "Menu" button if no audio is recording on the video camera. Choose the "Record" feature, then select "Audio." Oftentimes the audio comes (or is accidentally turned) off. Select the "On" option and exit out of the menu. Now all future recordings capture audio in addition to video.
·
· 3 Delete unwanted video files if your hard drive is full. When the internal hard drive is full you receive an error message stating the camcorder is unable to capture more footage. Bring up the "View" option on the camera, then select a video file you no longer want and choose "Delete."
· 4
Turn off the video camera and remove the battery. Wait a few minutes before inserting the battery back into the camera. If the menu or any other internal hardware on the computer is malfunctioning performing this reset corrects the problem.
· 5
Upload the video content from your camera to a computer via FireWire cable instead of USB. When using USB the quality is downgraded as it is unable to support the higher data stream required to upload videos. If you don't have a FireWire port on the computer (it is similar in size to a USB connection, but one size is curved and a "Y" icon is printed next to it) you will have to use the USB connection.

I have recorded footage for a fashion show at high quality for a client. When i attempt to edit the footage on imovie on my mac the footage comes out very jittery. The footage is fine when played back...

Hard to say without seeing it and more details of the video coding of the files you recorded but I think you shot it interlaced and you are trying to edit/view progressive, or the field dominance is wrong.

Have a look here, this should sort it either way

I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

Camera won't record/ play footage.

Video head was dirty / clogged due to old tapes usage so it did not recorded any signal on tape and now it requires cleaning with good quality head cleaning tape to record and playback properly.

HVX200 shot footage - viewing footage on consumer grade camera

You can only view hd footage on hd devices. so if you recorded hd footage onto a tape, you will not be able to view it on a standard def camera, ie the dvx100b. The footage should not be harmed. Now if you are trying to view via p2 card over the firewire, whole new scenario.

Images not recording

I have a sony 14E and suddenly it stopped playing and recording. With vertical lines on the screen I knew to clean the heads. No effect on the recording/playing malfunction.

However I persevered and it seems to have worked in it is now recording and playing back. The steps I suggest, with PERSEVERANCE, are :
1. Clean the heads (I did it 3 times in all, with about 1 hour between each session);
2. Leave the camera open (tape section) for about 2 hours and put the camera (with or without tape) in a warm place. (I also had condensation messages).
3. Once it is warm put in a recorded tape and attempt to view it. At first I had "dirty" vertical lines for a few seconds but it cleared and played normally.
4. If Step 3 still does not work repeat 1 and 2. As I said PERSEVERE.
If Step 3 works then try to record. It should work hopefully. If not, repeat 1 and 2 (shortening the "Warm Up" time).
Good luck. I hope mine continues to work OK now. It is to do with dirty heads and coldness I think.

JVC Digital Video Recorder Problems

Most models of cameras have a built in feature to give you a message and turn off if it has condensation on the inside components. Powering back on during this period can cause damage to components. It should remain off in a warm dry area. Condensation might occur in high humidity, or when switching from a cool location to a warmer place. Try cleaning your video heads with a "cleaning tape" let it play for 10 seconds then pause. If that solves nothing your camera may have permanent damage in which case JVC or a repair shop will have to replace parts.

Do I need any special cables to view or record the footage?

No. The GRHD1U includes a component cable. Another breakout cable provides composite, S-video and audio left and right. For dubbing the footage to a DVHS VCR or computer, a standard 4 to 4 or 4 to 6 (camera has a 4 pin connector built in) pins firewire cable (not supplied) is required.
