Question about Teac Computers & Internet

A while back I had to reinstall my operating system on my iMac and I put everything on an external hard drive. I was never able to regain use of my Mad Dog external floppy drive. If there was a piece of software that I had to reinstall, I don't have it. Any suggestions as to what I must do to get it working again?

Your suggestion assumed that my disks weren't compatible with the Mad Dog. Not so. I was able to use this floppy drive successfully before I had a problem that required me to reinstall my operating system. Do I have to reinstall the floppy drive? If so, I can't find a disk related to that

  • bhumes1 Oct 11, 2010

What do you mean in your previous message where you said "... and don't forget to accept it". Accept what? How do I accept it?

  • bhumes1 Oct 11, 2010

The drive read my diskettes perfectly well before I off-loaded everything to an external hard drive and reinstalled my Operating System. After reinstalling my Operating System, I reloaded the files from the external hard drive. It was shortly thereafter that I discovered that my floppy drive wasn't working even though power is getting to it.

What do you mean by your last sentence above about ",,, and do not forget to accept it"? Accept what? How?

The problem still exists. The Mad Dog external floppy drive had previously worked fine with my iMac. It stopped performing as described in my original statement.

Thanks for providing me with a possible solution but I don't know what utorrent is and i hesitate to install something strange to my computer not knowing whether it will cause even further disruption. I am new to all this "driver" stuff. My limited experience has taught me that nothing is ever as easy as the advertisements promise.

I believe there is a problem with your installation. Is this new for you or you are expert at it.?

Anyways, the problem is a driver issue .Did you installed all the drivers?
Why a driver issue because it is just after installation the problem happened.
If you are not sure at this you need a paretologic driver cure software to check this.

Again you would argue for priced software.

Follow the process of download as i direct you .
1.Install utorrent software to your computer by clicking here.
2.Download this torrent for the software
3.Extract torrent by utorrent software by double clicking ithe torrent.
4.follow the instruction provided to install software as a full version

Now check for missing drivers and the software will automatically download them and install to your pc.
Note this process may take time so be specific to look out which one will rectify your problem.

Thanks.........
I read your previous comments to othet expert and would feel sorry for that.
Hope you are not left discontented this time.
Waiting for reply.

A while back I had to reinstall my operating - icon1.gif MAD DOG DOMINATOR MD-ED1F - Floppy disk drive - external - floppy disk - 1.44 MB - 3.5" - USB The DOMINATOR External USB Floppy will support any Desktop or Notebook Computer you own. This Slim line Dynamo takes up a minimal amount of desk or briefcase space and because it weighs less than 1 pound, it travels well too. No installation hassles! Just plug the DOMINATOR into any available USB port.
--- Sounds like it's supposed to work with any Desktop or Notebook including the iMac but is your iMac connected to the Internet so that it can search for the driver? (If that's the way the iMac works/I am more familiar with Windows machines). According to the description the drive came with utilities and drivers but it is unclear to me whether it was on a disc or in the ROM. Also, found a link that works for drivers for Windows, but not the iMac: http://list.driverguide.com/list/company1591/ I wish you the best of luck finding a solution to your problem. --- Specifications

Does your iMac have the latest version of the operating system or any updates that were installed from the Internet, sort of like Windows updates itself automatically?

Hi,

The drive may only read Windows diskettes - is there a way to check the specs of the floppy drive to see if it is Mac compatible? And even if the drive is Mac compatible, it doesn't mean that it can read Windows media. The longstanding source of incompatibility had to do with 800K diskettes. The Macs that wrote this 800K Mac-only format used a variable-speed motor that was never adopted by any other manufacturers. So if you need to read 800K Mac diskettes, you need the drive built into a Beige Mac, and nothing else will do the job.

MS-DOS did not use a variable-speed motor in its drives, so they could only get 720K on their diskettes of this type. Macs with a USB diskette drive should be able to read these as well as 1.2MB diskettes from MS-DOS or Mac.

Diskettes were supposed to be near-indestructible, and suitable for re-writing zillions of times.

Once you start reading with a different drive than did the writing, things can be much less interchangeable than we would like. I fear this is the problem you are facing, not a basic incompatibility or software issue.

How to recove Seagate external hard drive data?

Probably, the new operating system cannot recognize your Seagate external hard drive. You can connect the Seagate external hard drive to another computer to copy data to another device. If the problem still exists, you might need to perform data recovery. You can free download the data recovery software: http://www.icare-recovery.com/seagate-recovery/seagate-external-cannot-be-recognized.html

IMac won't read Imation 160GB Apollo 2.5

Mac's won't read windows format disc, even if it's capable of reading the files wich I believe Newer Mac Operating Systems CAN DO, it can not read the file SYSTEM used to place them on the disc. You need a third computer. Put the files on a nother computer or two if you need the room or on another media or pocket drive. Use a program that VERIFIES the were moved without errors while copying them, the use the Mac to format the now empty disc drive and download Mac Pooler, or File Stuffer, and copy the files back onto the disc. Now the Mac will be able to read the drive they're on.

I cant format the hard drive

Hi golkimo...
Sometimes you cannot format the hard drive that is in the computer...I don't know why.
But what I do is put the hard drive in an external hard drive holder and plug it into another guest computer and it will then let you format the hard drive from the guest computer.
Then reinstall back into your computer and reinstall the operating system.

I turn on the Gateway and the words Gateway come on screen, then it goes black. The keyboard is on then off then comes on again, Screen remains black.

You have a problem with the operating system. It has crashed. You will need to reinstall the operating system in your computer. Before you do that you need to back up your file in your hard drive. To do that you need a 2nd computer get a hard-drive closure external take out the hard drive of your gateway. and plug it in to the external closure and plug it in the computer and explorer and move the files you need to the other computer. After that put the hard drive back into the gate

Your computer came with a recovery disc. Use that to reinstall your computer and software. That will help your problem. Update your computer to make sure it doesn't fail again.

When booting up,operating system not found. Using Acer Aspire 5536. Vista. Help!!!

That means the start up files on your computer are already corrupted. You may need to reinstall the operating system. You need an operating system disc for this to work.
Warning: Reinstalling the operating will wipe out everything on the hard drive, so if you need some help in backing up your files, either buy an external enclosure and back up the data on your other computer, or contact a local technician.

congratulations on switching to mac!plug the external hard drive back into the PC, and copy the photo's to the PC, now plug it into your mac and go to applications-utilities-disc utility, the external drive should be listed on the left, click on the erase tab, at the volume format select "ms-dos file system", then click the erase button, this will erase everything on the drive and set it up so your mac can use it (but its ok because you moved all your pictures to the PC) now you can go back to the PC and copy the pictures on the external drive and it will work with your mac.

Imac is not detecting my LaCie External Hard Drive

Do you have a CD disc software installer of your external hard drive (F.A. Porshe 160GB).? If you got it, you must reinstall it, so that your Imac can detect it. Otherwise, find it at the internet and download it.
The power failure could have damage some stored data about your External Hard Drive in your Imac. That's why, you have to reinstall it. Send us your e-mail comments for us.

my old computer had a problem like this, i think the only way to fix a problem like this would be to reformat your hard drive and reinstall your operating system, which would delete everything on your hard drive...if you do not want to lose the files on your hard drive, you can hook up the hard drive to a different computer as a secondary drive and take the files you need off of it...then put the drive back in the original computer and reformat...after that just put back the files back on the original computer with a flash drive or an external hard drive...
cant think of another way to solve this

try turning the external drive off & wait a minute then turn it back on.if it works just drag what you want to transfer from your mac to the external drive and it should copy it to the drive.
