Right, if I use remote for increasing brightness / contrast,
it says "Adjust Only in User Mode" & it does not allow me to play
with any control (brightness, contrast, hue, sharpness etc).

Now when I leave remote control & try with the switches
on the T.V Panel, the slider appears on screen & when I try to increase
with vol switch it moves to 51 & on decreasing it goes to 49,

but not beyond these ranges and cannot save those too. When I
exit it does not save 49/51, it goes back to 50 as it was. I also tried to set
default factory setting which sets it to 50. after that if I try to increase
those controls it behaves in similar fashion.
Only picture / video setting works in the same menu is the advanced
picture option where u don't have contrast / brightness option.

Is something locked in my system / any component gone wrong?
How do I identify and get it fixed? please help.

    Yes i line was missed , i was trying Menu,Brightness,slider --- > vol / -

  • KINGSHUK PAUL Oct 11, 2010

I used T.V Panel buttons all the time to get it set.

  • KINGSHUK PAUL Oct 11, 2010

2006-7 , not under warranty , Is it going to be costly / worth going to T.V shop

  • KINGSHUK PAUL Oct 11, 2010

    yes 51 , lowest 49

  • KINGSHUK PAUL Oct 11, 2010

    highest 51

  • KINGSHUK PAUL Oct 11, 2010

highest 51 & lowest 49 ,but it does not same those. Using factory default setting also does not help.
Is it worth getting it checked / any clue what could be wrong with this T.V ? And will it be worth ?

  • KINGSHUK PAUL Oct 11, 2010

Sorry for the inconvenience , was using this portal for the first time , I am not a T.V person ,
But Question for you is ... Is it going to be expensive or worth trying ? I guess main boards
    are expensive. Please suggest accordingly.

  • KINGSHUK PAUL Oct 11, 2010

    Hi Tim,

If i happen to get a working main board, can u pls send me step by step guide to replace it ?
I guess there would be latches / bus cable which i can connect to it (like computer motherboard).
If you can please send me the guide.

Strange, so nothing lets you adjust those settings? The sliders do not even move?! It should definitely be adjustable in just the way you are describing. I am researching this now, but please confirm, nothing moves on the sliders?!

I didn't get your full comment, now when you leave your remote...? Have you tried adjusting it with the buttons on the actual TV?

The highest it will go is 51?!

Strange, something may be going on with the main board of this TV...

Yikes, something strange is definitely going on here, it sounds like it may be an internal hardware problem if it will not even save those settings. The main board of the TV is not permitting you to adjust the settings, or save any slight changes. How old is this TV? Hopefully still under warranty :(

Sounds like the mainboard has failed for sure, I don't recommend you try to do the work yourself unless you are a tv repair person, it's very delicate work for sure.

Sorry about the delay, had to run somewhere for a while. It is going to be quite expensive, definitely not worth it. Since this is a 37 inch TV you can replace it for less than $400 if you look around online a bit. The repair will end up costing more than that :(

    Sorry about that

There is no real "guide" for it. The old board basically just unplugs from the inside of the TV chassis, you will be able to locate it once you have a new one, and can verify by making sure it is the same part number when you pull it it. From there you can just pop in the new one. It should just have a few push in connectors, no bus cables to my knowledge.

    Thanks
    Tim

The tv is only showing the picture in a small box on the screen. The re.st of the tv is blue. How do I fix this?

you will have a button on your remote control that allows you to select what picture size you would like in your case it sounds like you have it set to 4:3 and it should be set to 16:4 if this fails check your menu options as one of your factory default settings may have been changed by mistake

What does the tv have to be set on to be able to use the dvd player?

You will need to go to the video source selection either on your remote (if available) or through the main menu. Our Olevia has source selection on the remote itself.

Olevia lt 30 hv

You both need to IMMEDIATELY download your warranty from the Olevia website. Read it completely. If you are still under warranty, then contact them IMMEDIATELY in writing pursuant to the warranty and demand that they fix the TV for free pursuant to the warranty. Do not accept "No" for an answer. Document every communication and contact you make, including date, time, who you spoke with (first and last name and/or employee number), and the content of the communication.

Do not delay on contacting them, because the warranty is controlled by the date you purchased the TV. If it passes, then you are totally screwed. Olevia will ignore you.

ALTERNATE SOLUTION:
Do not buy any Olevia or Syntax products in the future. Tell everyone you know to not buy their products either.
