SOURCE: not playing blu ray discs
Did the Live Chat with Sony, and they said if you reset the unit (unplug it for a minute and plug it back in) that should fix the issue. If it does not (in my case, it did nothing) the unit needs to be sent in for service. I'm taking mine back to the store in hopes for a refund. Good luck!

There has been a change in the parameters of Blu Ray and your set will require a firmware upgrade to address this problem Contact the local distributor for details of when this firmaware will be available. It comnes on DVD or can be downloaded and burned to DVD You put it in and run it and its all automatic.
Please rate my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA

Testimonial: "used the info and went to the product website and downloaded new firmware. it should be working shortly"
Remove the disk. Go into the player's setup menu. Disable BD-Live. You may also need to clear the player's memory (maybe called cache, but depends on your manufacturer and model).
Now insert the disk and it should load right away and play normally. This is happening because new disks are trying to use the internet to connect to a server to download new features for the disk (that's BD-Live). This would be cool, except that in some cases it causes this freezing problem where you can't even watch your movie.
Firmware updates don't seem to fix it--at least not yet. So far this seems to be a combination of a coding issue on the disks and perhaps firmware that doesn't know how to deal with the new code. Please post a reply if it works for you.

Tips for a great answer:
Jan 18, 2015 | Sony BDP-S1200 Blu-ray Disc Player - 1080p...
By backup Blu-ray my guess is in BDMV folder, right? All supported video formats of Windows Media Center are listed in here http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows7/File-types-supported-by-Windows-Media-Center, but no BDMV folder included. So you have to convert it to a supported format like .wmv, .avi, etc, and Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper I have used for couple of years may give you some help and they have a brief guide page to assist you. http://www.blu-ray-dvd-converter.com/guide/play-blu-ray-movie-in-windows-media-center-wmp.html
