GE Monogram ZISS480DRSS Stainless Steel Logo
Anonymous Posted on Oct 11, 2010

My GE Monogram is having a problem with the freezer geting to cold and the frig not staying cold enough. When the reparman came out he said I had to turn it off for at least a day so the air channels between the freezer and the frig could defrost. This did work but the problem keeps comiing back. Any help with what is causing this Thanks Don

To get to the coils you will need to empty the freezer and remove the shelves...the coils are behind the back panel that can be removed by taking ouyt a few screws.... sometimes the panel will be froze fast and need to thawed before it can be removed...

My refrigerator won't stay cold. The freezer is working but not the refrig side

I have the GE Monogram ZISB480 side by side. Once again I have your same problem of the freezer freezing (good), but the refrig does not go below 45-50. All the official repair guy did was do a quick 1 hour defrost. I did that also just two weeks ago and it was fine. Now it is not cold enough again. I just looked in the freezer using a mirror I was able to push a 2"x2" trap door open towards the fridge. It must be automated and malfunctioning. Why the heck the repair guy didn't work on that? This week I'll call for another repair job ($85 for him to just come to my door) and ask him to fix the trap door. -Bob

GE MONOGRAM FRIDGE. FRIDGE TOP FREEZER BOTTOM. COMPRESSOR IS HOT, EXTERIOR BETWEEN FRIDGE AND FREEZER IS HOT. WHAT'S WRONG?

nead to know more, the area between the frig and freezer has a heater in it to prevent moister buildup.you can turn this off by turning on the energe saver mode.next you nead to take the kick plate off in the frount and bottom off frig.on the right you should see the condencer coil's, clean them.

My GE monogram built in refrigerator is not staying cold

After reading the comments of many frustrated customer with the GE Monogram built in ZIRS360NXLH I decided to trouble shoot my frig myself. Ours worked great for 9 years and then all of the sudden started growing mold, getting ice underneath the vegetable drawers and not cooling well. I spent hours online researching and doing all the recommended procedures. I did not want to call a repairmen to have him replace condensers, fans etc.

I realized that the fan that circulates air when the door closes was not going on all the time, or was going on half the time. They are located directly center on top of door frame when the door is open. Of the three it is the left switch. I pushed it in when the door was open and could feel the cold air circulating and knew this was the problem.
The cold air was settling at the bottom when the door was closed and freezing the coils, drain and thus the condensation was backing up underneath my veggie drawers and forming ice sheets. Since the top of the frig was staying warm mold was beginning to grow.

We concluded that, our door had sagged due to the knotty alder panel and too much weight placed in the door over that past nine years. There is an adjustable hinge pin under the bottom door pivot hinge that can be adjusted to raise the door. Unfortunately our was stripped when initially installed, so we had to order a new pin ($80).
This solved all the issues and it is working perfectly. I decided to post this because I read so many issues, that were all mine, many frustrated customers, and never heard anyone diagnose this problem. One can find the refrigerator diagram online to see all the parts I am talking about.
This has been a wonderful refrigerator and unfortunately there are too many dishonest repairmen so this refrigerator gets a bad rap.
