My Amana Electric Dryer will not heat up. Model# LE8317W2. We have cleaned out the machine and the vent. I will be purching a heater element (as recommended) is that easy to replace? IS there anything else...

Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it.Here is a video for the element replacement. Here is a video for the thermostat replacement.

Our dryer is running but it is not heating up

Check for a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. The thermal fuse is about an inch long and is just inside the rear of the dryer usually attached to or near the exhaust duct. Both components can be checked for continuity using a multimeter or ohmmeter. A lack of continuity indicates a blown thermal fuse. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Dryer heat output is 148, but takes several runs to dry clothes

You most likely have a ventilation problem somewhere in your exhaust line. This can be very dangerous and a fire risk. You need to do a thorough check of your vent pipe and make sure it is clear and the exterior trap door is working freely.

Overheating dryer

blowing when the tube is off usually = dryer fan ok, and is a sign that the duct is blocked past that point,
most commonly there is a blockage in the vent hood, the screen that keeps bugs and rodents from gralling up the exhaust, is also very good for catching any lint that squeezes past the lint filter.
most exterior hoods can rmove the screen for cleaning
any flexible ducting is a likely ara as well, the corrugations make a lint trap
check also that the duct from the heater element into the drum is not dislocated or blocked

Amana gas dryer only heats first 20 minutes

Check your ducts that the heat blows out through. make sure there is no plug up in the dryer or in the ductwork.
You may have a problem with the termosensor or the high temp cut out safety switch/sensor. This sensor would be somewhere in the exhaust of the dryer.
