Had my head in the back of one these not 3 weeks ago. It sounds like your projection bulb is about to go out on you. Replacing it is actually pretty simple, but take care where you buy your next bulb from.

You'll want an authentic Philips to replace the old one. Most discount houses sell an Osram replacement. Granted, they are cheaper, but you'll have to replace it in half to a third as often had you just bought the Philips originally.

If the bulb is new, you have just graduated to a possible high voltage issue. I.e., the exciter that causes the bulb to arc and make the extremely bright light, is about to go out on you.

It's not that bad to replace either, but considerately much more expensive. I wouldn't necessarily recommend a cheaper version of this part, but if your planning on a new LDC mammoth, then the cheaper route isn't the worst idea.

If you take the side panel off and realize that the sound is coming out of the lower center of the TV, you have just inherited a HUGE PITA (its an acronym that I am sure you can decipher). This problem is actually the color wheel going out. At the best its going out of balance and can be be re-aligned and bound down. If not, you are in the market for that new LCD much quicker than you expected.

The last one of these that I sent to the repair shop had the moron shouting to the tune of some $300+ dollars (which I can't even remotely justifying).

Hope this helped out...

Billhuss64,

You have a classic Samsung color wheel problem. They do not use bearings so when the grease is gone, not long, they start to hang up and give off the buzzing your hear. The reason it quits when you shut it down and restart is it proabably has heated up the bushing and some grease will migrate into it. This will end though soon.

I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4160054-replace_color_wheel_in_dlp_projection_tv which explains what you need to do to change this unit and where to get the parts.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Why does my car make a loud humming noise?

The buzzing noise is air in the power steering line. The reason it is only one n one side is cause when you turn the wheel it causes more pressure to build. Take the cap off the reservoir and turn the wheel back and forth all the way hold for a second on each side until the buzzing noise goes away. If that don't work then check your rack and pinion system to make sure you don't have leakage or damage from road debris.

My tape decks buzz but when i touch it with my bare finger it goes away

It can be a bad ground inside the deck or broken solder joint. I have fixed this case often but can not tell you exactly the problem unless I see the unit.

2001 chev impala ls makes whirring type noise when going down the street. Sounds like its coming from the drive or tranny. Stops when I veer right.

This sounds like the hub bearing. If it stops when you turn right then it is the right side front. When you veer right this takes the weight off the right side and the noise goes away.If the noise comes back and stays there when you veer left then the weight of the vehicle is on the right side.Hope this helps.Good luck.

There is a humming sound coming from the front end of my 1999 oldmobile alero. Only happens when the car is moving. I dont hear itat idle or even when pushing the gas at idle. could it be my transmission...

Hello! If the humming noise is speed related(gets louder as vehicle speed increases)check front wheel bearings. If the noise goes away when turning one way or the other then it will most likely be in the front wheel bearing. If you turn the wheel(while moving)to the right and the noise goes away it is on the right side. If you turn the wheel to the left and the noise goes away its on the left side. Hope this information helps!

Loud buzzing noise throu8ghout cycle. Sometimes washer sticks in wash mode

first thing i would check is to make sure your copper water line is not touching the motor this will give you this noise. just take off lower kick plate and start d/w you will be able to tell where the noise is coming from.
