Question about GE Energy Star WCVH6260F Front Load Washer

1 Answer

GE WCVH6260 Washer won't cycle. It turns own, balances self, fills with water and nothing. I cleaned the catch at bottom of machine, but still nothing different. Could we have possibly burnt up the water discharge pump? I notice the pump is humming and getting hot. Next question if so, where should I order one.

I snaked the pipe and ran a water hose through drain hose and watched tumbler fill up. I can think we are all clear. The only thing left is the pump. I believe we burnt the pump because there was a pair of underwear stuck in the drain, along with rubber backing off of a bathroom throw rug. I can't see the motor getting as hot as it is. I will keep you posted. Pump should be here today or tommorrow. Thanks for your help..

The pump came in today. Installed it and washer is back up and running. This is definately a poor design. They need to have the clean out in a location that is easier to get to. Behind the front cover that has 3 screws on bottom, is a bit of a hassle. You literally have to lay on the ground to get to the screws. Unless you have a pedestal. Even with the pedestal, they should of countersunk the clean out with the cover plate. I will never put the plate back on, and I will definately keep a eye on the clean out weekly. Thanks for your help Premm.... RepairClinic was the best price and quickest delivery...

    tierra,

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too. If all these don't solve problem, check your pump. Which you did.

I never asked u to buy a pump, try to see if it can be returned. And if you're still at it pl. ask SolutionGuy, whom you can find on the home page, experts, sort by rating, he's rated 7 or 8..... This site helps people sort things, without shelling out big bucks. Also, you can ask for 'assistance'.

Empty, fill with water only run through spin cycle. Replace clothes
do not overload and try to distribute clothes in an even weight pattern over the tub bottom.

MY GE front loader washer won't fill with water or spin. I hear a hum when I turn it on and it sounds as if it's about to start a cycle but nothing happens.

It sounds as if your water valve is either clogged or the solenoid is stuck and not letting any water in. Here is a checklist of things you should do to help isolate the problem:
1) check to make sure the water is on
2) turn the water off and remove the water lines and verify that both the lines and the screens on the valve are clear of debris, calcium, etc.
3) take the top off the machine where you can actually see the valve, turn the machine on and see if the vavle is the humming noise that you are hearing. If so and no water is coming out then the valve is bad.

All our whites are now greys washing with our GE WCVH6260

graying of clothes is usualy caused by / serveral things . too much soap / washer not rinsing properly / and gas dryers. change your dergt. use one with a bleach in it . and use 2nd rinse ( cold water ) make sure washer drains wash water completly . do this by cking the drain pump clean out .. if cloged it will slow the drain cycle and you will be rinsing with the wash water . also use H E dergt. . if dergt is still in clothes when drying this turns nylon yellow and whites gray .. .also seperate colors . and whites .. **** ..

Washer wil not spin or drain out after cycle completed

sounds like drain is plugged. this is a fairly easy fix,and you actually get paid to do it. unscrew the bottom panel of your washer should be 3 screws on the very bottom then you will see a white plug that is about 2 1/2" unscrew it (make sure you have a bowl under it water will leak ) and pull it out. this is where you get paid you will find all kinds of change and junk just clean it out reinstall and your clothes will be a lot drier after the spin cycle

GE WCVH6260 stops unexpectantly

Try buttons "dry" & "spin" together for a few seconds. This is the child lock display.

Or press "end of cycle" for over 5 seconds.

Or press "options & select" till the light goes off.

Works for other machines..............And please rate me if helped.

Check your drain with a good pour of water from a bucket, it must clear fast. It it doesn't snake it out; the prob lies there 99%. And don't push your exit hose too deep into the standpipe, 4 to 5 inches & not air tight.

Removing the lower front panel (3 screws nearest floor), and opening the round, white water pump filter cap (be ready to catch about 2 gallons of water!) is the best place to start. All you need is a Phillips head screwdriver and a large, flat pan (deep turkey tray works well)!

YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE what I found in my filter housing this morning (see photo below)!

The washer is working fine now, although I may go back and remove the entire water pump so it can be dismantled, thoroughly cleaned, and reinstalled.

If you have not already done so, clean the filter behind the panel in the front bottom of the washer. Remove the three philips head screws to get the panel off. Unscrew the plastic filter on the right hand side (use a shallow cake pan to catch any water). Remove the filter and clean out the pens, pencils, change, lint, etc... and put back in. All should work well after this. Thanks, Greg
