F1 is indeed the flood sensor activation code but coupled with the motor turning on on its own volition it is more than likely one or both of your(motherboards) also known as controllers have cr#pped out.I would buy a new one and then (after 1st turning off the power and pulling out the plug to be safe)swap the controller in one draw at a time and if the problem persists ,swap over the other controller.I have found this usually solves the problem...

Ya dry out the dish washer and stick somthing like a pipe cleaner in the hole that the water drains down to try to clean out any blocks that might be there

F1 is a flood code meaning excessive amounts of water have collected on the bottom catch basin. If a flood condition is detected, both draws will activate the drain motors and flash F1. Remove the bottom drawer and dry the catch basin.

The F1 flood (drawer leaking) issue could be three possible issues; 1. Defective lid motor(s)...Each drawer has two lid motors that pull the lid tight to the drawer when the cycle is started. (this was very common on early models) 2. Something too tall was placed in the drawer preventing the lid from closing completely. OR 3. (only seen this once) the drain hose developed a crack causing water to leak only when draining. Hope this helps....

Machine displaying f1

The F1 error refers to 'internal flood.'
You may wish to reset the power of the unit, this may clear the error code.

One common cause is too much or 'wrong' detergent causing too many suds. In this case, giving the unit time and a reset is all you need to do.

You may wish to check under the unit to look for a tray with a widget floating in it. If you find such a tray, empty it & cycle the power to reset the F1 error.

I hope that helps.

F1 shows on control panel of both drawers, after a couple of startup.Even when machine is not being used both drawers startup on F1,only way to control is to shut off at main supply

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa.
F1 error means that the flood switch has been activated. You’ll need to reset it by powering off the breaker or by unplugging the unit from the power socket and mains for more than five minutes. Please check that there is no blockage in the drain hose and it is not raised higher otherwise the water will run back to the dishwasher. Also perform the following procedure---
    • Unplug power and remove bottom dish drawer
    • Use a Sponge and dry all the excess water underneath
    • Remove circuit board cover
    • Dry all around and underneath as much as possible
    • Apply hairdryer for 10-15min

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Dishwasher showing wrench symbol after using dishwashing liquid

I am assuming this F1 error is coming in only one drawer and that you are able to run the second drawer as normal.

In the case of your dishwasher the F1 error occured because the foam would have overflowed over the drawer top into the base of the unit. This would have triggered a flood switch which is there to protect water damage to the dishwasher. You can either wait a few more days until the base of the dishwasher drawer unit dries up or you can dry it yourself.

To dry the base, extend the drawer as far out as possible (turn mains power off first). The use a few towels and push them on to the base. Pull the towels out and dry the base especially the centre of it with a hair dryer.

The F1 should disappear once you put power back on .

Hope this helps. You have a very helful child who sets the dishwasher up. I have to keep pushing my children to even empty it.

Dishwasher keeps flashing F1

F1 on your dishwasher is the fault code for leaking inside the machine. the water has caused the flood switch to activate. have you put any detergent rather than your normal dishwasher detergent into the machine? if you have, the water probably leaked out of your overflow, if not, then you have a leak on the top drawer or bottom drawer. the easiest way to check is to leave the machine off for a couple of days until it drys then turn on the bottom drawer to go thru a cycle.if the F1 comes up again then the problem is on your bottom drawer. if F1 does not come up then try the top drawer. please reply if you require further help.

Our F & P dishdrawer keeps coming up with f1 and a picture of a spanner have tried turning the machine of at the switch for 24hr but is still doing it

Water has collected at the base of the dishwasher under the drawer.
This triggers a flood switch and causes the F1 error.

Turn the mains power off and extend the drawer out as much as possible. Take towels to dry the base from inside. Also use hair dryer ot dry out the flood switch mounted at the base.

Turn the power on and see if there is any difference. The cause of water collection could be many. Foam in detergent or kink in drain hose or drawer door gasket leaking etc.

Both drawers have F1 code - leaking water, I think it's the lid seals

The lid actuators either failed or became disloged. This does not tell the dishwasher to lift the drawer up against the lid, resulting in water cascading over the sides of the dishwasher. There is one switch per drawer.
