This is due to the Product Key that has been entered is fake or invalid. The operting system will not tell you if it is a real key until the activation is attempted. I would suggest gaining a valid geniune copy of Microsoft Windows XP to remove the counterfit software icon.

Hi. you can try this:
1. Before doing anything serious try restoring your system. If the problem is occurring after the Windows Update then System Restore will surely help. 2. But if it does not then do try this, launch Windows Task Manager. 3. Locate the process "wgatray.exe" and end it. 4. Log in into the Safe Mode and delete the file WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32 5. Also delete the WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32\dllcache 6. Type regedit in Run to open Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify key. 7. Delete the folder WgaLogon and all of its contents. 8. Restart the PC normally.
Note: if you are not comfortable doing steps 3-7, please please get a computer expert to do them for you.

Everytime i open my pc the updates says...you are a victim of microsoft counterfeiting...

Hi angel,

I see that you are encountering a microsoft issue saying that you are a victim of software counterfeiting.

This can happen if the motherboardo n your computer has been replaced and the windows on your system was not reinstalled, if ever you did replace the motherboard on your system then you may will need to back up personal data then reinstall windows.

Reinstalling Windows on your computer will make the error go away since the system registry will be able to detect the new motherboard and have that info registered in Windows, this is the only way to get rid of that error regarding the counfeiting.

If you did not replace the motherboard at all and you just suddenly had this problm then something in windows may have caused this...

You can try doing a system retore to an earlier date before you encountered the problem but then if it does not work then most probably you might need to register the version of Windows that you have online in the Microsoft website.

By doing the registration online will make Microsoft recognize your Windows as a genuine copy, first you will need the original packaging of your Widnows if this was purchased seperately of if it came with your computer then this will be OEM you should see your Product key on a Microsoft sticker on your Computer.

I hope that this helps you.

Have a nice day,

mvincentc

Hello when i start my pc an alert message apears

It's a common problem with windows copies. In case your computer is bought from a shop, ask them to provide you with a genuine copy of the Windows. If not you should buy a copy Windows. Take care that after some days with this message your computer may locked down and you will not have access at your files.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

I can`t go in my mail,I want to remove you may be a victim of software counterfeiting

HI,

That message ("you may be a victim of software counterfeiting") is displayed when your Windows serial number is being used by someone else. If your copy of Windows is legitimate, try contacting Microsoft support.

Take care,
Alex

Software counterfeiting?

tell technician if he used pro with a key already installed
he needs to change key

or reinstall with xp home if the pc has sticker on side originally.

usualy this is the result of p2p xp customizers that make "lite" versions and so on.

i have downloaded a real oem xp home from most makers like hp, dell, sony the xp home cd works for all with same key under laptops with home sticker. or desktops on its sides or rear.
