Question about JVC HD-61Z585 61" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Have replaced the bulb in my jvc 61z585 hd-ila rear projection tv. It worked find for two hours. We turned it off for several hours and when we turned it back on we got a picture for ten seconds, then black and red and blue light again flashing fast simultaneously. Bulb appears to be okay. Have done some research and learned it might be bad ballast, or safety switch open (cannot find a safety switch). Would appreciate any advice from others who have this type of tv

We suspect the ballast. The tv turns on, there is a picture for about ten to 15 seconds, then both lights begin to blink rapidly. There is no clicking sound. If ballast is dead, why do we get any picture to begin with? Thanks for help wish you were here to help lol :)

61 inch projection tv flashing on and off

The most common problem with JVC LCD rear projection TV is bulb failure. Do not panic, this is normal after 2-5 years of use.

You can change the complete assembly or for less cost just change the bulb. Do not use Osram or other funny brand "rebuilt" or locally made bulb. Use a Philips replacement and all should be good.

Changing the bulb involves removing the lamp assembly and taking it apart like a puzzle and replacing the bulb. JVC are a little more difficult to do than most others because the wires on the original bulb are molded into the glass on the original bulb. Wires must be cut and stripped of insulation before connecting to the new bulb.

All JVC LCD Rear projections TVs use TSCL110 TSCL110U TS-CL110U Lamps.

I have a 56" JVC rear projections HD ILA tv.

Turn tv off and unplug it. Take the access door off either side of the tv. Use a dust cleaning tool like a swiffer with an extension (or make one). Clean off lens (most likely the problem). I have the same thing that happens to my JVC 61". You can use a vacuum with extension if your VERY careful.
