Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hey, my old tv blew out so i plugged in my tv in the kitchen to my bedroom. It is an older jvc television. It worked fine for a few days then the sound just quit working one night. I have messed with it and as far as i can tell when i turn the tv on the speakers burst on but there is no sound for my direct tv, dvd, vcr, e.t.c. Do you think the speakers could have blown out? or just a wire come unplugged. thanks for your time, Matt.

The one that does not work: have you tried to unplug it for a while from power and plug it back to see if it will reboot and allow you to program?

It is not you tv its the plug on theb wall. It is probably loose, and causing the intermittent problem you are having. You may notice looseness as you plug it into the wall. Your TV is fine.

JVC television-lost old remote-have universal /can't add channels

I don't have an answer for your question.

However, I do have a suggestion. You can hook up a vcr to your tv, then put the tv on channel 3 or 4 (whichever the vcr is set for) and change the channels through your vcr. You have to have the cable go first to your vcr and then out to the tv.

Loses electric

Get a voltage meter and see if you have 110-120volts ac at the outlet. If the lights and/or a bathroom fan have any feedback they could lower the voltage to your TV and it may have a low voltage safety relay that turns off the TV when low voltage is present. This happens in older homes. If this home is older this little problem may be telling you that the wiring in your home is old and in need of replacement. You do not want a fire.
