If you mean reboot, as in restart by reloading the operating system, hold down crtl + alt + delete and choose restart from the menu. If you mean something else, please clarify. (over the years, reboot has come to mean many different things to many people)
Reboot essentially means restarting the computer. This is two types
1. Warm Reboot: where you go to start on windows task bar and choose shut down but when prompted choose restart. This way computer shuts down momentarily and restarts!
2. Cold Reboot: By this means you choose to shut down and again when prompted choose shut down! This makes computer off completely until restart by pressing power button.
Booting is computer Lingo for above procedures!
You do not give enough details about what the problem is and why you need to reboot. Reboot simple means restart, but if the computer is frozen or will not start at all there are specific solutions. Here is an advent support forum that may have answers for you. http://www.adventsupport.com/
This page is about Advent desktop reboot but try these things anyway. The last step to take out the power means also taking out the the battery in the case of a laptop. Good luck http://www.ehow.com/how_4815320_reboot-advent-computer.html
Hold the power button in for atleast 10 seconds, this should cause a hard off (power completely off), wait atleast 30 seconds then turn the power back on.
Uncle,
Why do you want to reboot the laptop? And what do you mean by reboot as reboot means that you restart the laptop. If you want to start in DOS command prompt then you can press F8 at bootup time and you will be given many options to choose from One of them is the Command Prompt. Select that and you will land up with a black screen and a C:\ prompt. If that is what you want.
Reboot basically means to "restart" the computer. You have a soft reboot which means hitting the reset button on the front of the computer or going to the start, shut down, restart computer. A hard reboot is shutting the system off completely and then turning it back on.
