Sorry for taking so long to respond (had a new addition to the family at the beginning of June, so been somewhat distracted). It generally does matter which way they are facing, yes. For the most part, the side with the writing (where applicable), faces the top of the case, and the side with the holes (again, where applicable), showing parts of the connections, face the bottom of the case.

Msi k8mm-v not power on in motherboard

YOU HAVE SOME CONNECTION LIKE THE LED AND FACE PLATE WIRES IN THE WRONG, CONFIGURATION.
THIS IS WHAT I RECOMMEND YOU TO DO FIRST.
REMOVE EVERYTHING, UNPLUG ALL DEVICES,
MAKE SURE THE MOTHERBOARD STAND OFF THAT ARE IN THE CASE IS NOT SHORTING OUT THE MOTHERBOARD.
make sure all the hole is the motherboard line up with the stand off where you screw down the motherboard.
1.make sure the cpu and fan & memory is installed and plugged in
2.just plug in the power supply, turn on system, if boots, turn off
3. install video card 1 only, turn on, if okay, turn off
4. install dvd unit, turn on, boots ok,than turn off
5. install hhd, turn on ok, than turn off
6. plug in front panel, usb, other fan, turn on, if ok,turn off
7 install network card, turn on, if okay, turn off

if you have any issues with any of the steps above than you will know which unit or item is bad, or plugged in wrong, or not compatible with your unit
I KNOW IT IS ALOT OF WORK BUT IT WILL SAVE YOU ALOT OF RUNNING AROUND WITH YOUR HEAD CUT OFF

Monitor going to sleep after 5PM and other times during day.

first thing you can do is go into personal settings/ power management and set the screen time to eather stay up all the time, ajust it to your settings. second thing is to go into the bios and check to see if the setting are correct. making sure that its not overclocked and save the settings if these thing dont help then you will have to ship it out one other thing is, if this is the trial version of win7, then your 180 day trial is over that will cause the system to be shutting down all the time also

Bios doesn't recognise harddrive or dvd rewriter

sound like th cable is reverse.
read the manual first, make sure the momories are in the correct orientation. DO NOT FORCE IT.
un-plug the hard drive and the DVD. try to run on the computer. if it turn, then plug in one item at a time.

Since Intel manual doesn't tell you which is pin1 on the IDE cable. you nee to make sure the cable with red bend on one side is plug into the IDE socket on the motherboard label pin1 and the other end is plug into the IDE hard drive facing the power plug.
SATA cable can go in only one way.

Jumpers problem

170dd8e.jpg This is a jpg of a modern board. Your board may have more pins. The concept is close. Any difference would be located at the Power led. Your's could be three pins & the speaker could be three pins & neither connector would use the middle hole. I suggest you plug in one connector at a time with a boot up in between. Start with the power switch. Testing is simple, press the case power on button. Pc starts your good no light? Turn the connector around & try again. Next plug in the IDE led. Check for light on power up. Most boards, old & new keep their negetive facing to your right. These negetive wires are colored black & wihte. Positive wires are colored green, blue & red. As long as you do 1 connector at a time you should not have a problem. These are all very low voltage, most just leds. Take your time. It will work out.

P4M800 and general Biostar

Hi, in my own repair business I find the main cause of reboots is the power supply beginning to fail, the other one is the on/off switch on the case. to test this just unplug it and bridge the pins then see if the problem goes away, Regards mistyman

MY MONTOR HAS POWER AND IS NOT WORKING.

Hi, dont loose faith. If you look on your mother board along the edge closest to the front of the case you will see a series of pins, usualy about 10 pins. Printed on the board will be the names of the plugs that match. The wires from the front of the case have corresponding names. The power and reset switch will work no matter witch way around you put them. The HDD led and the pwr led will only work one way so if these lights dont work, just reverce the plugs. If desperate you can bridge two pins together at a time until you get the on/off switch. Note you cant hurt anything unless you use a hammer. Regards mistyman
