We own a "converted" condo unit in a building that was previously apartments and now each unit is sold as a condominium unit. I have read about others having issues with cigarette smoke coming in through AC units and air vents, but we are having an issue with cigarette smoke coming through the walls and appears to be coming in through places where there are holes in the wall (thermostats, connections for the kitchen appliances, etc.). Is there anything we can do about this awful smell or do we have any rights as owners to complain to the homeowners association about the issue?? I have about had it...

Hello,You need makeup "fresh" air intake vent added. You have a attic fan or when a clothes dryer, range hood, bathroom fan runs it pulls the house into a vacuum or negative pressure. It will pull air from anywhere it can to balance the pressure.Try leaving a window open a little bit for a couple of days(if you can do safely)and see if it works. Then you need a outside air vent installed.I assume the AC intake/return are seprate from the neighbors.

3. All important places should be there near the condo. such as school, restaurants, hang out place, stores, and much more.
I m staying in MARTIN MODERN CONDO, which is located in the perfect location, close to the river valley. I get all the things near me and I don't need to far for my requirements.

I live in a condominium in Brook Park and my neighbors will not give me access to the walkway and sidewalk so I can get to my Unit. They block it with their van. I am 65 and walk with a cane.

They can do something if you use the ADA laws to show that the inaction of the association is causing you hardship. You can contact an ADA attorney, legal aid lawyer for low income etc.

Has there ever been a product that appears to be copper covered aluminum household wire ,14/2

Yes, when copper wire is repeatedly heated / cooled, then it will experience "Metal Fatigue", where the connection point will snap right off. Depending on the County (State) you are in, there are different variations for building "rules" or 'code'. The "Building Code" is a LAW, that has penalties for not building to 'code'. But between when the building was inspected, and now, (2015) there have been many changes to improve the SAFETY and HEALTH of living in the home. The NEC, or "National Electrical Code" specifies the length a wire must be available inside the electric box. Once this length is less than the required minimum, then you need to replace the ENTIRE WIRE RUN. . . . . . There was a time that ALUMINIUM wiring was used in homes, in some states(provinces). You need the CORRECT SWITCHES and OUTLETS for AL wiring, they are not the same as the common(Home Depot) or hardware store products. They MUST be labelled for AL-CU wiring.... your FIRE INSURANCE depends on this.

Eemax280t2t no hot water

see if the circuit breaker switch has tripped either partially or fully and reset it. Check for bad or loose wiring on the heater and breakers. The next thing is more likely the heating element is no good and needs repaired or the heater needs replaced.

I have an amana self evaporating portable ac for my 500sf condo. I have had to unhook it and roll it outside 4 times to drain it. Lately water is now spilling out the back vent on to my floor. What's the...

It appears to me that because of the small size of your condo, you are just recirculating the humidity in the apartment. The unit is condensing the moisture in the air and then reheating it in the pan causing it to evaporate back into the air. The unit is working properly but the humidity level in your apartment continues to rise. You really need to add a drain from the pan of your portable air conditioner.
