Question about Canon MX700 Office All-In-One InkJet Printer
We just had the 6502 error after replacing 2 of the 4 ink cartridges. We had removed the cartridges to take to the store. When we replaced with the 2 new ones, everything was lit-up fine, but we kept getting the 6502 error. We tried unplugging, hitting the reset/stop (which just beeped at us - never did anything...) and different combinations of removing/installing all the ink cartridges AND the print head. Nothing worked. We eventually left the cartridges in-place and unplugged the unit for the night.
The next morning, plugged it in and it STILL had the 6502. But then turned if off again, waited an hour or so and when it came up after that, it gave an error that the 2 ink cartridges we didn't replace were not recognized. We opened the top and those two cartridge lights were blinking. We re-sat them and all is now good (knock on wood!)
We're thinking that taking the cartridges out to get replaced (they were out for about 1 1/2 hours) may have led to some ink residue drying in the unit....???? But when we have to replace any cartridges in the future, we plan on buying it FIRST and THEN swapping it out immediately with the empty one.

1. With the printer unplugged, remove the ink cart to the right.
2. Plug in the printer, Press the POWER button, Do not release the POWER button, and then press the RESUME button twice in succession. Now release the POWER button, press the RESUME button 4 times.
3,The beeper may sound once, Then With the printer unplugged, after that reset the printer electronics ,open the printer and this process is finished.

I turned off my printer. Then I lifted the lid, then the cover so you can get to the ink. Turn on the printer, while both are open and wait til you get the " Cover is open" on the display screen. The ink cartridge will stop in the middle with all light lit. Then shut the cover and wait til it resets.
