No, no filters, but, during time scales deposit in the valves of the water and ice dispenser. In the user manual it's clearly stated that the unit must be descaled every 2 years.
Yes, this is a job for a pro, the door of the fridge must be completely dismantled to access the mechanism and the water valves. BTW if the scales have completely obstructed the valve then it must be replaced, and the only ones with access to a replacement part are the pros.
You take out the unit from the door and clean it by hand, with a brush. It's a job for someone with some experience - the procedure is described n the service manual. Unfortunately this manual isn't provided to the customer, i had to buy it from an online site myself.
But i think that this can no longer be done on your fridge - the water valve has been clogged for too much time, you will gonna have to replace it.

I'm assuming you mean the green light on the ice maker is on steadily. You
could test the ice maker system, by first turning off the ice maker, leave
it off for one minute. Now within ten seconds after turning the ice
maker back on, and with a one second pause in between, push in the
paddle of the ice maker three times, and do nothing else. if the ice maker
is working properly, it should begin to cycle, and eventually call for
water.
If it never cycles or if it cycles and receives water, you have a
bad ice maker, if it cycles and does not get water, you have to replace
your water valve.
But, sounds like a clogged solinoid valve they're cheap and easy to replace
but if you have to dfrost the freezer anyway make sure you let any ice
that may be in the fill tube melt before installing new valve. After the
defrost check the valve by cycling the ice maker ( turn the drive gear
w/ a small screwdriver) an see if it fills if not replace the valve.
Unplugged of course. Change the filter and purge the water line.
If you have a power saving switch turn it to normal if this doesnt fix
youre freeze over problem then youre next step will be to check the
defrost timer but I dont have the specs. on your unit.
Could also check the valve with a cheater cord. Very carefully, I
betting ont he def timer stat and or the timer for the fridge, and
check the drain.
Hope helps.

ZJ-- Are you sure we're talking about the same model?? I don't have a green light on my ice maker. This model is not digital. The only light is the little utility bulb for the "LIGHT" which has an on/off switch or comes on when you dispense water. I just defrosted freezer overnite and
now am getting water from thru door dispenser.... but still no ice.
I'm having a hard time following you and some of your terms. I guess I am appliance challenged....but that is why I asked for help. Where is the ice release lever??? I have a
rubber pad in the thru door compartment and I have a lever in the ice machine compartment which has only 2 positions: (up) labeled "STOP" and down ...which is "on". Is this the lever you are talking about?? If I move this lever up or down ( and I tried it 3 times in 15 secs....nothing happened and I heard nothing. If I push the rubber pad...the utility light comes on ...there is a
noise like a motor coming on and it sounds like the machine is turning inside. I don't know if any of the other things in the diagnostic test are occurring or not. How would I know? I don't hear anything else like water running.
Do you give up??
Confused
When I move the feeler arm up and down...nothing happens.
When I push the push pad in the door... the utility light comes on..there is a sound like something kicking in and it sounds like the dispenser (coil thing) is turning. But nothing comes out.
Now have water thru door after defrosting but still can get no ice. See history.
Previous solutions/tests were above my head.
I'm a red-necked Texan. Keep it simple.
Is it time to call in a repairman??
Advise. Thanks
Ok--- That's what I needed to know. Good job.
Good info. Thank you.
Just one more comment. I have looked thru all of the original owner's manual and I don't see
anything at all about "descaling".
Can I still descale and if so ...how do you do it???
OK, THANKS.
