Hello melgiblett, as adding additional speakers to you current factory speakers will cause and abundance of power drain, you head unit is only designed to handle 4 speakers.. the only option would be to either splice your front or rear speakers to the new 6x9's, however you will notice a significant drop in audio volume and quality as your head unit would not be powerful enough to run all 6. with the assistance of an amplifier, you may be able to acheive all 6 speakers

I have a total of ten speakers in my van and i want to know the best way to connect these speakers to my after market cd player they are all regular speakers not subs

I would pick the 4 closest ones and connect them..if your radio has rca connectors on it you can hardwire an amp for the 4 back ones..ulimately its up to how you want to hear the radio most of the time..

What size speakers are in the doors on a 1997 jeep grand cherokee laredo

  • The factory speakers are 6x9 BUT the magnet on the factory speakers are much smaller than on aftermarket, higher quality 6X9 speaker making it almost certain the window will not roll down after installing an aftermarket 6X9.

  • Most go with a 6X5 because they are a bit smaller and there is a wider variety of them. Where ever you go to purchase that speaker. make sure the measurements are taking real well if going with another 6x9. There is always the option of the factory 6x9 but a nice aftermarket will fit in there so long as you mind the size.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

I replaced the 2 ohm 6x9's in my buick with the monsoon amp, with 4 ohm 6x9's. After i put the speakers in, almost no sound came out. I've read that you can wire them in parallel from one...

If you did wire these in parallel to get the 2 ohm load, you will loose your balance. Also, you may have to bridge your amp.
To do this, go from the positive of the amp to both positives of both speakers. Then from the negative of the amp to both negatives of both speakers. If you have a 2 channel amp, you will have to bridge it. Note, make sure your amp is 2 ohm stable.

hope this helps

Will any 6x9 speakers fit my 2002 pontiac grand am in the rear deck?

I recently helped to replace the rear speakers in a 2001 (or 2002?) Grand Am GT.
It depends on the type of stereo you have. Look at the wires going to the rear speakers. If there are two wires to each, I'm pretty sure that almost any 6X9 speaker will work.

My friend had a Monsoon system, and there were 4 wires at each speaker. There are only a few speakers that can be used on this system. As I recall, the ohm resistance is different from typical speakers. If you have a 4-wire system, you should do some reading at these websites to see what speakers to use:
http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/index.php
http://www.grandamgt.com/
or try http://www.crutchfield.com/

I did read at one of the above Forums that there are GM replacement speakers (better than original):
"I just ordered two new Monsoon rear speakers from www.gmpartsdirect and they were only $85 shipped. They are a new part number which have been updated with better cones to help prevent blowing, part number is 22698418 " If you go with GM Monsson speakers, also try Ebay. Good Luck.

I have 2 Kicker 6x9 450 wat speakers, what is the recomended type of amp.

If you plan to add more speakers to push 4 of the inside the car I would go with a good 4 channel amp at least 150watts RMS per channel. That should be plenty with put worrying about blowing the speakers.
