Make sure the printer ink cartridges are set in all the way.  If it is not properly set in place, printer will not work correctly.

SOURCE: cannon printer feed paper

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

SOURCE: cannon MP210 printer

I tried this and it worked (thanks to a suggestion from someone else but can't find his name right now) --

I found a slender piece of cardboard, the front off one of my 1-subject notebooks. I cut the jagged edges off, made sure there wasn't any debris or loose crumbs of paper. Put about 20 sheets of paper into the printer and put this cardboard as the first sheet. Pressed the copy button. When it started to attempt to feed, I forced it through.

What did it find?? A moth had flown into the printer at some time, gotten smushed, smashed and stuck -- and was preventing the paper from feeding through! OMG, I almost tossed this Canon MP210 in the garbarge.

So thanks to you guys with ideas about cardboard and a little muscle. I ran another piece through just to clean out all the stickiness (and the remnants of the moth's body). Works fine now.

Canon MP 610 Printer

For hard to reach jammed paper I cut a 1” x 11” piece of 11pt synthetic paper. Then notched a series of V’s into one side. It’s a very effective tool to feed through hard to reach areas of the paper path and clear jams.
I chose synthetic paper since it’s extremely durable and won’t tear off and contribute to the jam issue.

Always paper jam error on my cannon 3530

Check for a paper fragment at either end inside the printer chamber or underneath the paper feed roller cover plates. Anything that holds a paper feed sensor arm open will give you paper feed errors, and they can be remarkably small.

Cannon Printer PIXMA ip1700 Paper Jam-I checked the feeder and everything I know but it still comes up paper jam. Need help,Donna

Hello and Welcome
I am Angel Bird and i will be assisting you regarding the issue

If you are facing this error their may be small bit paper jam in side
There are some "micro-sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper, or a lump of dust, inside those sensors, thus "tripping" the sensor and saying you paper jam.

To solve it :

Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder

If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then
Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.

If the problem exist then then go to Canon authorized service facility for repair. You can also get support by Canon by phone, at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666)

I hope this solution was helpful for you.
Please give me token of appreciation as FOUR THUMBS it if it helps you.

Thanks & keep using FixYa

I have a pixma 1700 (iP1700) cannon printer that

List of things to try when receiving paper jam error:

1) Paper is indeed jammed internally: Power Off. Open the cover and remove the paper or scrap carefully. Do not touch the internal printer parts. Close the front cover.

2) Load paper correctly according to your manual. Use recommended paper and obey load limits.

3) Foreign objects in printer: Power Off. Open the paper support and confirm that there is not any foreign material in the auto sheet feeder. (Remove it by hand or with tweezers). Open the front cover and confirm that there is not any foreign material in the unit. Avoid touching the inner workings of the machine.

4) Reset the printer:
  1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).

  2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .

  3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

  4. Turn the printer back on.
If all of these suggestions fail, your iP1700 may require repair service.
