Right ... After 5 minutes of looking and fiddling I have found the solution!! press the button abover HOME and it should change the tray in which you are printing from :D

SOURCE: Printer will not print
I had the same problem and to fix it there was a blue tray I had to pull out (the tray for the photopaper). Once it was pulled out so it was about flush with grey part beside it, the printer worked again. (The photopaper tray is just above where you put the regular paper.)

I just spend over an hour on the phone with Canon for the same problem... the resolution is simple. From the Control Panel, select Printers & Faxes. Right-click the mp620 printer, and select Properties. Select Printing Preferences from the bottom of the General tab, then click the Page Setup tab. Choose Print Options at the bottom. Place a check mark in the box next to "Disable the paper source setting of the application software." Click OK 3 times and the problem should be solved.

SOURCE: canon MX850 - paper feed
Look carefully because it is a cassette on the bottom of your canon mx850... so the solution is: or you fill that cassette or you switch your canon (it is a button for that) to take the paper from the top...

SOURCE: bottom tray won't feed paper
adjust the left, right and rear paper guides so that the paper isn't fitting into the tray so tight. The clicking sound you hear is the gear trying to raise the paper to be fed, but it can't do it's job because the paper is in so tight. On mine, the culprit was the rear guide so I let it out just 1/4" or so-just enough to give the paper a little more room to move-problem solved-for me at least!!
