Question about Yahoo Mail

1 Answer

I can't email pictures or videos with my laptop. It said that the message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's email address. I had no problem sending emails since 2001, and now it said it requires 530 authentication.

For about the last two weeks Yahoo has been having problems. I can't even get my email reliably. It says password login incorrect and then gets it anyway. Evidently Yahoo did a major overhaul and they haven't worked out the bugs yet. What I would try is to send a test message with a picture from the yahoo mail web page. That will most likely work for you. It's not as easy as doing it from your email program but if you have to send something it will at least let you do it until they get this sorted out. Yahoo has done thise about every 2 years or so. They do an update and all sorts of problems occur and then it takes them about 3-4 days to notice there are problems. Usually it is fixed fairly quickly. The last time they did this all the email that was sent eventually made it through. I was still seeing my posts and others showing up months after.

If you keep trying eventually they will get it fixed and you'll be fine. As of today I still can;t log on and I'm getting all sorts of spam even though filtering is turned on and its supposed to mark it as spam (which is does) then move it to a spam box (which it isn't doing).

Unfortunately this is just one of the perks of using yahoo. Usually its very good but every once in a while you have to wait until they fix their improvements.

Bounced email

In computer jargon, a bounced e-mail is one that never arrives in the recipient's inbox and is sent back, or bounced back, to the sender with an error message that indicates to the sender that the e-mail was never successfully transmitted. But what happens when someone sends an e-mail out into cyberspace, and why do e-mails sometimes bounce back?
When a user attempts to send an e-mail, he is telling his e-mail system to look for the domain of the recipient (for example, webopedia.com) and the domain's mail server. Once the e-mail system makes contact with the recipient's mail server, the mail server looks at the message to determine if it will let the message pass through the server. If the recipient's server has predetermined that it is not accepting e-mails from the sender's address (for example, if it has blocked the address for anti-spamming purposes), the server will reject the message and it will subsequently bounce back to the sender. The message will also bounce back to the server if the mail server on the recipient's end is busy and cannot handle the request at that time. When an e-mail is returned to the sender without being accepted by the recipient's mail server, this is called a hard bounce.

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's email address. The senders's email address is liz.workman@att.net

That isn't a question. It is also not something that anyone here can sort because the problem is that the server doesn't recognise the address. In other words you need to check your spelling.

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'fkb@ameritech.net'. Subject '', Account: 'pop.attyahoo.com', Server:...

One problem is that the incoming (POP) mail server shown in the error message appears to be incorrect. The server address should be "pop.att.yahoo.com" (with a period between "att" and "yahoo"). The incorrect mail server address may interfere with authentication of the sender's email address, which is needed before the outgoing message is sent.

The "530 authentication" message indicates your outgoing (SMTP) server likely requires "server authentication". Also, the "Port 25" message indicates your email program is currently trying to send via Port 25, with no SSL; but Ameritech/Yahoo accounts appears to use Port 465 with SSL enabled.

See more on sever settings for "ameritech.net" users:

https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61941/~/i886---at%26t,-bellsouth,-sbcglobal,-ameritech-email-settings

I would suggest you check the settings for your Ameritech email account in your email program. You may need to correct several settings. The steps to access account settings are somewhat different for various email programs (Outlook, Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, etc.). You should be able to find guidance in the "help" section of your email program.

Hello,

Might be you will have to contact your internet service provider or a admin if using in office environment.
The most common cause of this error is a restrictive (ISP) internet service provider. The ISP you're using won't allow you to use the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) that your email software
designates. They do this to reduce or prevent abuse; they don't want junk mailers going through their network
with masses of junk email.

Try turning off the firewall of your anti virus and operating system as well.
Thanks
