When i copy something it cuts off a piece towards the end of the original. i have been playing with the setting maybe i could find the problem but no luck. the scanner works fine and when i print from my pc no problems.

In your case, the scanner light is not lit during the scan or copy. If you print something from the pc, it would print just fine. Try to powercycle the printer, then try copying again. If it persist, scanner is defective but you may still use it to print from pc.
I have found that when I slide back the carriage to the left by hand and expose the bottom right hand side, there has been an accumulation of ink that is preventing a part from sliding from front to back. Inspect the bottom right hand side where the black and color cartridges normally sit. You will find a flat sliding piece directly beneath the position where the cartridges normally sit, that will not slide forward to the front of the printer and back towards the back of the printer easily because of the ink that has accumulated and is causing a drag. I used q-tip swabs and some alcohol and cleaned out the rails that the piece slides in. Use a flashlight to inspect. After cleaning it appears that it is printing normally again.
