If freezer is working fine but fridge is not getting cold, then it can be defrost issue. ------------------ The procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.--------- Try manual defrost reset procedure: ---- First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again. If the same problem occurs then it's defrost problem. The defrost board and the defrost thermostat/heater is not functioning properly and it has to be checked and replaced. The defrost assembly consists of three main parts. The defrost thermostat, the defrost heater and defrost board. Any of the one is not functioning. When thermostat sense the maximum cooling, it triggers the defrost heater to start heating and this defrosts the ice collected on the coils and the system works. Both thermostat and heater are controlled by defrost board. First the thermostat and defrost heater to be checked, if both check ok by meter and visually, then its defrost board causing the problem. You can get required parts from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Hello,

If refrigerator is not cooling properly can be due to a defrost timer, which is causing the fridge to go into defrost cycle. Usually it takes 45-60 minutes for refrigerator to come out of defrost cycle. If the timer goes bad then it will not come out of defrost cycle and can result in this kind of issues. It can also occur due to defrost thermostat, it allows current to pass through it at temperatures of 20 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit and prevents current from passing through it at 40 to 60 degrees. This is difficult to test, though, because it takes a prolonged, very-cold temperature to turn it on. The defrost thermostat is snapped onto the top portion of the evaporator. The thermostat sends temperature information to the processor. The defrost heater must be replaced when replacing the thermostat.

1. Remove the lower fan duct work from the evaporator cover.
2. Remove the 1/4-in. evaporator cover screws and remove the evaporator cover.
3. Disconnect the defrost thermostat wiring connector.
4. Remove the defrost thermostat from the evaporator.

I hope the above helps.......

Let me know if this is contrary to your solution.

Regards.

I have an amana 90 home air conditioner w/ a amana prestige compressor. compessor runs but cooling fan not turning ,fan is not locked up and unit has power .of course w/fan not turning home is not...

Could be a couple of reasons for this:
1. Condensor fan motor bad.
2. Condensor fan motor loss of power.
3. Condensor fan motor capictor bad.

Unit has control for fan for low ambient operation and unit is low on freon telling fan its cold out side and dont run.
Hope this helps. wally

Amana washing machine LW7503W2. Works fine in delicate. Other settings fill and it just stops. Timer?

well it could be the timer or it could be the motors other high speed winding has gone bad.
you will need to find a wiring diagram to figure out which wire is the high speed winding and verify whether you are getting power there when the timer is supposed to be making it run in the hi speed setting. if theres power there and the motor won't run the motors bad..
part # 27001215 - 2 SP MOTOR sorta expensive tho $160+
if theres no power there then the timers bad
part # 31239 - TIMER ASSY.$115+
hope this helps,
best of luck,

Amana evaporative fan intermittent

I would first suspect that the fan motor shaft just has gunk on it keeping it from starting -- clean & lubricate both ends of the motor.

If this doesn't solve the problem, it's the motor start capacitor -- could be inside the motor housing or could be outboard, connected to it via the wiring harness. A capacitor is a lot cheaper than a fan...

Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan won't kick on

be aware that not repairing this asap that you are causing yourself more problems First I would change out the fan capacitor and see if this could be the problem. Secondly if the capacitor isn,t the problem change out the motor . By continuing to allow the system to cycle like this the compressor will take a dive on you costing more . Good Luck

Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan stops spinning after 15 mins

Capacitor, dirty condencer coil causing the motor amps to run too high. But most likely worn bearing on blade side of motor causing it to pull to one side causing it to over heat and shut down. Sleve bearings should have no side play.

Amana model BR18VW Freezer on the bottom..

couple things to check BEFORE calling the technician.. Check to make sure the coils under it are clean,  2nd make sure the coil cooling fan is working.. you can do this by getting behind the machine and check to see if the fan there is blowing..
IT could also be the defrost timer or the defrost heater.. these work in the back ground so you will never know unless you have ice buid up and such..
Hope this helps
