You should revisit the lamp by removing it and checking for any obstruction in the light path. When satistied that nothing is blocking the light path and if you still have low light levels I would contact the vendor and try to exchange your lamp for a new one. If the unit is still dim after installing a new, 2nd lamp, I would replace the ballast board assembly. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4977572-when_change_ballast_in_dlp_tv which explains the problem, how to fix it and where to get the parts at the best price.

I have a similar DLP TV. If you losing your new bulbs that quickly there is likely a problem with cooling. There is a fan that keeps bulb cool. Make sure the fan is working and there is nothing blocking the air passages. I have not had a problem with my fan but you should be able to find a replacement at Radio Shack or a computer/electronics store like MicroCenter. They come in standard sizes just make sure the voltage is correct typically 120 VAC or 12 VDC.
I have had the computer inside crash such that the sound would work, the bulb would come on, put no picture. Fixed by unplugging the TV for one minute then plug in and turn on.
The bulb repeatedly goes through its startup cycle but never comes on. It tries about ten times then stops. Fixed by removing the bulb housing and firmly tapping it on a counter top ten times. This was at Toshiba instructions over the phone and it actually worked.
Probally the Ballast board have problems,if the safety switch problems,u should not have a picture at all in the first place. Now,the tv turn on?U hearing alot of clicking?Yes,the Ballast board is dead,it not igniting the projection lamp anymore.
U have not change the projection bulb for this tv at lest 2 years, and u used the tv alots? The first thing u require to do is to change the projection bulb.See what happen, than go from there.
Hi,again,Thanks for the blessings. One quick way that works for most sets its to unplug the set wait 5 min and plug it back again. Here's instructions to replace the ballast: http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp47-00033a.php Found ballast here: http://www.discount-merchant.com/SAMSUNG-9137-008-08905-Lamp-Ballast-Driver-p/1139281.htm?Click=48173 Pay attention to other sounds like buzzing or whirling because it could also be the color wheel.God bless you and your house! I would look to see it this set has a bulb, common problem when set's won't turn on on rear projection lcd.
How old is the set, most bulb should last 2000 hrs, depending how often you have turn the set on and off. Most set's dont' have this problem they have slow turn on bulb, I love panasonic I feel there one of the top brands and have excelent picture.
But keep in mind new technology has there problem, more gagit more problem just like vehicule, and panasonic ten to push this to the max. Panasonic also then not to help when ask question , they just don't want to help technician.
Most tv's this day's has a life expentasy of about 7 years, the best one's would last over 12 years and the cheaper brand I keep seeing or made in china, lucky if you get 2 years.
