Have cured this problem by replacing spindle motor

Try using a clean cloth dipped in isopropyl, and wipe the lens thoroughly. If this does not work, make adjustments to the screws behind the laser assembly, one at a time. After each adjustment, check the disc that does not read until it does. This could be time consuming, but it works.

So you are telling me it will play DVD+Rs but not pressed DVD movies? hmmm....try cleaning the laser lens real good. If still you have problems, it is time to junk it. These things are more expensive to repair than to purchase a new or better one.

My panasonic sa-pt460 surround sound system won't play any new dvds, does not recognise them in the system and says no disc, is this something that can be fixed or just because of the age of the syste

Sounds like it may have a hardware problem, specially if sometimes it plays one disc, and others not (I mean the same disc).

But in any case, check to see if there are any firmware updates from Panasonic, that may fix the not recognising new discs issue.

Usually firmware updates are done by formatting a USB pen with a manufacturer's tool and then booting the unit from that USB.
In some others just leaving the firmware file in the USB, and the unit will pick it up an upgrade.

Panasonic BD35 won't play blu ray discs, but will play dvds

You may have come close to what the issue is---Blu Ray for several design reasons is much more critical than DVD---seen a lot with this issue----either a dirty or a failing optical pickup in the unit---I know as when first started seeing it in our shop changed a few and since under warranty found the answer--optical unit was the problem---shortly after that they started just exchanging the cheaper units.

MY SA-MT1 HAS PLAYED MY MUSIC DVDS BEFORE NOW FOR SOME REASON IT WILL NOT PLAY THEM AT ALL IT APPEARS ON SCREEN THIS TYPE OF DISC CANNOT BE PLAYED

Just a suggestion, try using a laser lens cleaning disk, you have to clean them every 10 hours of use, if that doesn't work sounds like a replacement.

Panasonic DVD RV31 does not read DVDs created by Windows Movie Maker

The only thing that has worked for me is to make a copy of the disk after burning it in Movie maker.

I've got a panasonic SA-MT1, it's become a bit temperamental at reading discs - some it will read with no problem, others it says "no play". is there a quick fix for this?

Hello sir,

This is the dust problem in Lens. So plz buy a good Lens cleaner CD and put it on and play it. After that u can play all type of disc. But make sure that dvd/vcd is support by your player. ok

Thanks

Will not play any DVD

I may have bad news for you. Here's my story with the PVD4744S.

I watched over an hour of a DVD-video disc one night, no problems. The next night, I played only the intro; then the DVD player gave a message, "This type of disc cannot be played. Please insert another disc." Thereafter, I couldn't play any of several DVDs.

The manual gives little help:
http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/PVD4744.PDF

My disappointment is exacerbated by the declining availability of DVD/VHS players with an RF modulator. Maybe Panasonic should create a repair kit for aging devices.
