Question about Jacuzzi Pool & Spa

1 Answer

When I turn my jacuzzi heater on using remote, the heat starts, but the water is pumped out of the jacuzzi (so it empties) and into the pool. Why? never did that before!

I think I commented earlier that I agree it must be a bad valve hook up (ie, something switched from jaccuzzi to pool). I will check that out.........if you have anythoughts that might be more specific as to a valve , etc let me know. Otherwise, thanks

If you please tell me your jacuzzi make and model number,I may find a free operators manual online. Not knowing exactly how it is hooked up at this point though,I would say there is a bad valve or a valve which needs to be switched from jacuzzi to pool or vice versa.Remotes rarely go bad too so maybe there is a sensor which the remote activates to switch it back and forth if that is an option for your system. If there is,it may be the remote battery if you haven't tried that yet.Cheapest solution possible at this point. My Bose has one of those strange batteries(notAA,AAA,C,D,etc)so if it is a possibility,it may be worth trying, probably no more than $5 before it gets expensive. If you comment here with any relative information possible,I will get an autolink to your post and will reply ASAP.Greg

I have a Jacuzzi J340 Hot Tub. I am having trouble with the heating. When the pump is on, the water circulates just fine. once the heater kicks on, it runs for about 10 seconds, then clicks to OH, and...

make sure the heating element isnt touching the casing inside the heating tube. if its an indoor tub, make sure the filtration cycles are not set to constant. constant filter cycles on an indoor tub will generate residual heat from the circ pump running 24/7, causing tub to heat past 104 degrees

Jacuzzi hot tub, Water is too hot. Heats until it trips the system. I have replaced the analog temperature control,

1) Safety question first
Why hasn't the GFCI tripped.
If your spa is not protected by ground fault., then you are at serious personal risk.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-GFCI.html#arc-fault

2) Replace the element.

3) If element is cracked, it can continue heating to ground wire, causing runaway heating.
This applies to spas, and water heaters of all type.

We have a hot tub or jacuzzi inside or on the side of our pool. We had a new heater installed. The jacuzzi should heat up very quickly but now the pool tech claims the drain from the jacuzzi is blocked,...

Is the equipment to heat and filter the hot tub separate from the pool equipment or do both bodies of water share a common heater and filter pump? In most cases they share a pump and heater with valves that direct the flow of water depending on how the pool owner wants to use the pools.

The first thing you need to determine then is if the equipment is working properly. Is there flow of water to and from the spa? If so, is the heater burner kicking on? If it is running, is it running properly with sufficient gas pressure, 3-4" tall bright blue flames and stays on continuously during the heating cycle for the spa?

What is 'very quickly' for the time to heat the water? In other words, if everything appears to be operating normally but the water is not warming fast enough or at all how much time is elapsing before deciding the heater is not working?

How old is this equipment and how much experience do you have with this pool tech or the company they are from?

Which valve do I use on the Jacuzzi Magnum 1500 to drain lines

There two plugs on your pump, one one the side of the pot at the bottom and one dead center of the pump housing on the front. this will only drain your pump if you live in cold country and are winterizing you will need to drain all your equiptment filter, heater and any thing else. then you need to drain your pipes and seal them at poolside to keep the water out.

Jacuzzi pump shuts off after short interval.

probably heater, alot of older spas/jacuzzi have a circulation pump connected to the heater. when the heater starts to heat and gets to hot or draws too much load - it shuts down.

this happened to mine and I had to replace the heater?

Spa issues

Is the spa inground also? If so you need to turn off the filter return at the pump and use the circulation pump only. this is only a best guess as I am unsure of the pump setup.

5 year old Laars 25,000 LX won't ignite.

The low pressure indicator is for the gas pressure not the water pressure. The heater won't ignite because it's not getting gas to the igniter. Check gas supply, if okay, check gas connections, valves, etc.

The 1 HP motor should be fine on the jacuzzi.

My jacuzzi keeps emptying into the pool when the pump switches off and then refills from the pool when the pump comes on - do you know what the problem is?

I agree it sounds like a check valve. if the water in the pool matches the water level in the spa, or drains all the way (depending on how far the spa is raised) then it is the valve before the pump, but if it goes down to the jets (and not any further) then it is a check valve or valve on the retun side of the plumbing ( after heater or chlorinator).
