Question about Panasonic TH-42PX75U 42 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

After 3 or 4 hours of viewing, my TH-42PX75U HD Plasma television powers off. The power light blinks 10 times, pauses for 3-4 seconds, then blinks 10 times, etc. I am unable to power it on and off with my remote or the tv's power button. I reviewed a technical guide, but am unable to diagnose the problem other than one of its circuit boards must be overheating. I am guessing circuit board A, but that is just a guess. I am financially limited and need the least expensive method to diagnose, order a circuit board and pay someone to install the board. Any suggestions as to which board may be malfunctioning?

Is there an additional $6 charge every time I ask a question that is related to your response to the original question?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. 10 blink error in your Plasma TV means that the A Board has gone bad and should be replaced. You are right, this issue is caused due to overheating and the capacitor(s) goes bad causing these issues. You can also open the back of the unit and check the main board (A Board) first for any blown/bad components/capacitors as the board itself is around $250. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Unfortunately your going to have to have it serviced by an Authorized Panasonic Dealer. Independent shops will not be authorized to order parts without the consent of Panasonic. They are rough to deal with.

Will not turn on, power light blinks 10 times, pauses and then blinks 10 times.....

There are likely two separate power supplies in your set; one main supply and probably an additional high voltage supply required by the plasma display. The 10 blinks probably are telling you which but only the maker or a tech familiar with this set would know. You might try calling a Panasonic service center in your area and they can surely tell you with the model number and blink count.

Wont come on

Take out the SU board and try to start the unit. If it works, order that board.
If not install back the SU board and do the same with the SD board..
Boards are (rearview) on the left side SU is up and SD is down.
Good luck

A red light blinking 10 times means that a video board has gone bad. Contact Panasonic to see if they will help you out.
