MAKE SURE THE BREAKER IS OFF AND THE DRYER IS UN-PLUGGED!!!!!
The way to get it open is to use a flat head screw driver and remove the lower panel below the door.tHE WAY TO DO THIS IS TO WEDGE THE SCREW DRIVER IN THE SPACE BETWEEN THE PANEL AND THE SIDE OF THE DRYER.WEDGE THE SCREWDRIVER IN THE SPACE AND GIVE IT A SOLID PUSH IN ORDER TO MAKE THE PANEL COME FORWARD TOWARDS THE FRONT. THIS PANEL IS HELD ON BY METAL CLIPS AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS FORCING THE PANEL OUT OF THE CLIP.sO IF YOU HAVE THE SCREWDRIVER IN THE SIDE OF THE MACHINE WEDGED IN BETWEEN THE PANEL AND THE SIDE PIECE OF THE MACHINE YOU WANT TO PUSH THE SCREWDRIVER TOWARDS THE BACK TO PRY THE PANEL AWAY FROM THE FRONT. ONCE YOU HAVE GOT THIS OFF THE ARE SOME SCREW THAT NEED TO COME OUT AND THEY ARE LOCATED ALONG THE TOP OF THE OPENING WHERE THE PANEL CAME OFF. THESE SCREWS ARE HOLDING THE FRONT PANEL WITH THE DOOR ON IT ON TO THE UNIT. aFTER YOU TAKE OUT THE SCREWS YOU MUST POP UP THE TOP OF THE FRYER USING THE SCREWDRIVER AGAIN. WEDGE IT IN BETWEEN THE SPACE UNDER THE TOP PIECE AT THE FRONT ABOVE THE DOOR AND POP UP THE TOP. tHE TOP IS HELD ON THE SAME WAY WITH METAL CLIPS. THE FRONT AND THE SIDES HAVE CLIPS AND ITY WILL LIFT UP IN THE FRONT ABOVE THE DOOR AND TILT BACK LIKE THE HOOD OF A CAR DOES. bE CAREFUL NOT TO PULL ANT EXPOSED WIRES OUT OF THEIR PLACES.YOU CAN NOW GET TO THE SCREWS THAT HOLD ON THE TOP PART OF THE DOOR PANEL AND ONCE THEY ARE OUT BE CAREFUL TO NOT LET IT DROP. mAKE SURE YOU ARE HOLDING THE PANEL AS YOU TAKE OUT THE LAST SCREW.YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO MOVE THE PANEL OVER TO THE SIDE AS IT HAS WIRES ATTACHED TO IT. AT THIS POINT YOU NOW HAVE ACCESS TO THE DRUM. i HOPE THIS WILL DO THE TRICK AS IT IS TOUGH TO EXPLAIN WITHOUT SHOWING YOU PHYSICALLY. THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK .
IF YOU GET STUCK WRITE BACK , TGHANK YOU

Drive Motor

The dryer drive motor turns the drum and the blower wheel to exhaust the air. If the dryer stops the motor might be defective. If the dryer stops and the dryer motor makes a humming noise there might be something caught in the blower wheel, or the drum might be binding. Try removing the belt from the motor and checking the blower wheel for obstructions. Also try rotating the drum by hand with the belt off, it should rotate freely. If the drum doesn't turn freely, determine what is causing it to bind. The dryer motor can't be tested easily. If the drum turns freely and the blower wheel is clear, and yet the dryer still keeps stopping mid-cycle the motor may be defective. it will need to be replaced. It is not serviceable.

Drum Roller Axle

This dryer has drum support rollers. There will always be two supporting the rear of the drum, and on some models there may be two supporting the front of the drum. The rollers must spin freely to work properly. If the roller axles are worn out the rollers may not spin freely which can overload the motor and the dryer stops. If the dryer stops mid-cycle, remove the belt and spin the drum, it should spin freely. If not, check the rollers and roller shafts.

Drum Roller

This dryer has drum support rollers. There will always be two supporting the rear of the drum, and on some models there may be two supporting the front of the drum. The rollers must spin freely to work properly. If they are worn out or start binding the motor can get overloaded and the dryer stops. If the dryer stops mid-cycle, check to be sure the drum turns freely with the belt removed. If not, check the rollers. Do not lubricate the rollers or roller shaft, lubrication will attract lint and cause the roller bearings to wear out faster. If the rollers don't turn freely, replace them. The roller shaft can often be reused, unless it has worn down. Clean the shaft thoroughly before installing the new rollers.

Drum Slide, Glide, or Pad

The front of the dryer drum is supported by small pieces of plastic-like material. As the drum rotates, it slides on these plastic pieces. If the dryer stops mid-cycle, it may be that one or more of these plastic slides or glides has worn out. When they wear out the drum can start binding and put strain on the motor. The motor then shuts down and the dryer stops. Check the glides for wear and replace as needed.

Drum Bearing

The drum bearing supports the rear of the dryer drum. Over time this bearing will wear out and may cause several different problems. If the dryer stops during the cycle it may be that this drum bearing has worn out and is putting too much strain on the motor. If the belt is removed and the drum spins freely, the drum bearing is probably not worn out. If the drum bearing is worn out, there may be some grinding or squealing, and the drum will be hard to turn.

Dryness Control Board

The dryness control board shuts off the dryer when the clothes have reached the level of dryness selected by the user. If the dryer stops too early, the dryness control board might be defective. This is not very common and other possibilities should be checked first.

DHDSr46ee1ww has new heating element and switch but will not start.

Have you checked the motor kill switch? Its located by the motor. When the belt comes off the idler pulley actuates this killing power to the machine. Sometimes the switch goes bad over time and needs to be changed. The part number is wd21x10261 and runs around $12

Loud squeaking coming from (rear of?) drum during operation! Hotpoint Electric Dryer Model Number - NVLR333EEOWW Serial Number - LH813897A

If your a do it your self-er, UNPLUG the dryer, take off panels, drum should come out, doesn't need to be right out but you need to get to the little shaft it rides and spins on and Vaseline both the shaft and the socket it goes in.

I get black streaks like the rest of you.. I

it's not the drum,it's the felt pieces that the drum rides on, there is felt on the back of drum and theres a felt piece on the front bulkhead, they could be worn leaving a space letting the clothing slip through hitting the black rollers or something is falling through the space hitting the clothes next time send the model number so i can look up your dryer, the model number is around the opening where you put the clothes into the dryer, open the door and look around the opening and you'll see a tag with model and serial number

Frigidaire dryer - tub will not tumble/turn....what to do? Can read all of the model numbers....the label has a crease it in.

If the machine sounds like it is running but the drum is not turning then you most likely have a broken or unseated belt. Just open up the top of the dryer and have a look at the belt on the rear of the drum usually. Most appliance parts stores should carry belts but you would need the model number to know which belt you need. See if you can find the manual for the machine. Otherwise you'll need to have a pro come and figure out your model number.

Model PYE2300 AYW the dryer turns on and provides heat but the drum does not spin

your belt has come off the drum or has broken. Take the model and serial number to parts house for replacement. The belt should be accessed through the back of the dryer. Good Luck on your repair. Make sure to disconnect electricty before removal of back.

Ge dryer model #DHDSR46EE1WW. Dryer will not run- just makes loud humming noise. Replaced the start switch and it still will not run at all. PLEASE HELP!

You most likely have a bad motor. Try to spin the dryer drum by hand with the door open, door swich held or taped down, and while pressing start. This will likely get the motor going. If this works try closing the door and starting it again. If it works now the motor may have just had a hard time starting do to it's position or the drum's postition. If it only works when you help it out manually you have a bad motor or maybe a sticky drum/jammed belt/etc. Good luck!
