Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

This is a Maytag washer problem. I have poor water pressure so I disconnected the hot and cold wter hoses from the back to clean the screens. When this only slightly helped I thought I would check the hose in the washer so I took the metal plate off the back that holds the nossles in place. Boy is that hard to get back. So with out putting it back on I started to finish the load of wash I started. the metal of the nossles compartment touched the metal of the washer and shorted the power. Now I guess I have 3 questions, will the washer still work? how do I reconnect the ground and how do I get the plate back on?

The model is LAT2500AAE. The water inlet valve has 2 contacts, the one for the cold water seems to have fried the coupleing or visa versa. The valve is replacable, I have found the part but I'm not able to find anything on the coupleing or wires.I also don't see what it is attached to.

It maybe that. It is a white plastic holder the metal contacts snap into. There is a little bit of black from where the spark occured. I was able to put the whole thing back together. When I plugged it back in there is no power. I checked the breakers and that is fine. I wonder if it is a fuse in the washer

    We are getting there.

It is my plan to check both the lid switch and the power cord. My laundry room is getting a new floor for the next 2 days and the washer is unavailable.

Are you referring to the harness connector?

The fuse is located on the lid switch assembly.

Also check the continuity of the power cord/plug, it may also be fused.

The FH error code means the computer on the control board didnt detect any water entering the washer..sometimes it doesnt detect the water entering because the filter screens on the water inlet valve are clogged with sediment and water is having a hard time entering the washer.

The filter screens can be checked by turning off water at the faucets and disconnecting the fill hoses from the back of the machine and pop the scrrens out of where the hoses connect at the washer and check for blockage in them. If they are found to be clean check the water coming out of the hoses before connecting them back to the washer...if the screens are clean and water pressure is good out of the hoses the part of the washer called the FLOW METER would need to be replaced

How do i clean the water hose filter

On the back of the Washer, you have your hot and cold water hoses that hook up to the Washer Water Inlet Control Valves. Shut the water off at the Main water valves in the wall. Disconnect the hoses from the Washer and check the filters inside the Water Inlet Control Valves.

Cold water trickles into the tub while it is being filled up

The hot and cold water supply hoses that connect the washer from the water supply faucets on the wall to the water connections on the back of the clothes washer usually have filter / sediment screens within there connection fittings at the end of the hoses, these will collect dirt, sand, calcium deposits, etc.,when they trap enough of these materials they will plug up and restrict the flow of water into the clothes washer. Turn off the water faucets at the wall, and you should do this for both hot and cold hoses, disconnect the hoses from the washer and the water faucets, look into the hose ends and pull out the screens and clean them out by running water and what ever you can use to clean them completely!!!!!
Now look inside the water connections on the back of the clothes washer, where you screw the hoses on the washer, and check to see if there are filter screens in there, if there is, remove them and clean out completely also, then reverse the removal process and reconnect the hoses, makeing sure to connect the hot and cold hoses to the right connection on the back of the clothes washer!!
Try filling the washer with water to see if you have corrected the problem.
Make sure hot and cold hoses are correct on the back of the washer!!!!
GOOD LUCK !!!!!!

I cannot get just cold water to do a batch of clothing, it will only do hot water brand new machine

could be the water valve part number 22003245 for maytag neptune washer,it's a round 115 bucks, also you might want to shut the water down, disconnect the cold water hose and make sure it's not the house shut off valve that's bad or the hose is bad, turn the water back on and see if the water comes out of hose, check the screen in the hose if it has one, could be blocked with junk and check the opening of the cold water side of the valve to see if anything is plugged up in it that can be cleaned out,the final rinse on all washers use cold water so you can't use it with just the hot water

MDL MAH5500B at fill water runs fast for very short period then slow. Hose filters changed, no affect. any suggestions? Dale

Have you cleaned the wire mesh screen in the hose. Does the hot and cold water do the same. Disconnect the hoses and turn the water on letting them run into a bucket. Do they run good. It's stopped up somewhere as indicated by the initial high pressure and then loss of pressure.

The water does not flow to the softener reservoir of my maytag neptune tl.

most likely problem is to low of cold water pressure. if you set it to cold/cold, and the water coming in doesn't have much pressure, the screen on the cold water valve could be plugged. turn the water off to the washer, remove the water hoses from the washer inlet valve in the back of the washer. look in the inlet valve, there is a screen. if it has sand and debris, clean the screen, hook hoses back up, and check the pressure on cold again. if it has more pressure, this should allow water into the softener reservoir. Also- make sure you take the softener reservoir out, and clean both pieces. make sure the syphon holes are clear. hope this helps. shane

Very slow cold water fill, why?

First make sure that you have adequate water flow from the hose bib coming from the wall. You can do this by turning off your cold water connection at the wall, then disconnect the cold water hose. Then turn the faucet on and make sure the water flows freely. The most common reason for your problem is a clogged screen where the cold water hose connects to the back of the washer. To check this, disconnect the cold hose from the back of the washer and clean the small screen inside the cold water inlet on the washer.

Won't let cold water in

Take the water supply hose off and clean out the inlet screen located inside the water valve where the hose was attached to the machine. Note: there may be a screened hose washer on one end of the hose also.

We have recently bought a Maytag Epic front load washer and F & H keeps comming up...what's the problem?

FH is an indication the the machine is not sensing enough water flowing into the machine....
The only thing you can do without taking the machine apart is to disconnect the water hoses to the back of your machine and inspect the filter screens for any type of debris that might be restricting water flow into the machine. Typically, the cold water line is more susceptible to foreign matter than the hot waterline.
If screens appear OK then the problem may be with the water fill valve, water flow sensor, water pressure switch or blockage in the water pressure switch hose.

No hot water for a Maytag topload washer

Turn the water off and disconnect the hot wat hose from the spigot and the machine. There should be a screen filter in one end. Check to see if the screen is clogged. If it is then replace it. If not then replace the water valve
