You should start up your computer from WinPE, a CD residen simplified Windows operating system. It might help you to make some diagnostics. Get it from
It's only 121 Mb; burn ISO to CD and boot it . Probably you should change startup sequence on BIOS to boot from CD-ROM

When your PC Freezes this is usually a form of Malware causing your PC to freeze.
Try booting into safe mode with networking:

Our work e-machine will boot to just past the bios screen and can even make it to the "unexpected shut down" screen that lets me choose to start in Safe Mode, but then will immediately shut down. I have...

Boot into safe mode. From another computer download malwarebytes free version.
Save to usb it will show up as MBAM.exe
Rename MBAM.exe to winlogon.exe.
Boot to safe mode, send winlogon.exe to desktop (create shortcut)
Install, update, and run full scan. delete everything it finds.
Hope it helps

I have a virus and need to fix. 1. How do I

reboot the computer and tap the F8 every second or two to get to safe mode (click here for details).
Not sure what virus you have, but I just had to remove "Security Tools" from a pc. I booted into Safe mode and ran MalwareBytes.
If you don't have virus protection download and install Windows Defender and Avast - both are free.

Hi, I have a ibm t41 and when I switch it on, it boots up to show the windows xp screen but will not do anything else. It will not load pages when I click on them or even the start menu when I click on...

Try starting in safe mode, pess F8 continually at start up, then choose safe mode without networking. If you can enter safe mode, then go to start, run, and type msconfig, click on the startup tab, and disable all, then restart. This will turn off all of the startup programs and use less resources. If this works, I would then recommend downloading malwarebytes from and running it to clean the system of possible infections. Then, check how much RAM you have, you may need to upgrade. If you can't even boot into safemode, then you may need to reinstall the operating system.
