I have a solution for you, your mobile service provider, ie Vodafone, should have a code to extend the length of the ringer before it will divert to voicemail.
For anyone using Vodafone it is:-
The last two digits are the amount of seconds you want to have, above is set to 25 seconds.
I have heard on the 'grapevine' that using the full 30 seconds may make a difference to how you are billed, that is a higher charge in the incremental way you are billed. So 25 seconds should be the maximum duration.

Taking the battery out to switch your phone ON/Off can cause serious problems. -------------------------------------------
To receive calls, your phone must be on.
This is different from having only the screen turned on (see Turning your phone on). When your phone is off, your calls go to voicemail. To see a picture of the person calling you!
Learn how to assign a caller ID picture in Assigning a caller ID ringtone. If music is playing when a call arrives, the smartphone rings softly. You can answer the phone as you normally would. The audio pauses during your call. To answer a call, do one of the following:
• Press Phone/Send .
• Press Answer (left action key).
• If the headset is attached, press the headset button.
To ignore a call and send it to voicemail, press Menu (right action key) and
select Ignore or press the Power/End key. -------------------------------------------
Waking up the screen and turning it off. Wake up the screen and leave the phone turned off when you want to use only the organizer features of your smartphone, for example, when you’re on a plane and want to look at your calendar. You can also turn off your smartphone’s screen without turning off your smartphone’s wireless features. You can turn your screen on and off by pressing Power/End.
Ok, I thikn I fixed it, but it is kinda dumb. Maybe this will help you.
Call your phone from another phone. While the phone is ringing press
the Volume Up Button on the left side of your Treo. Now look to make
sure that both of the Volume Mixer buttons are turned up. For some
reason the system sounds were turned all the way up, but the ringer
volume was turned all the way down. The only place that I know to make
the change to the ringer volume is pressing the rocker switch while the
phone is ringing. Let me know if that helps
The 650 seems to have a delicate headphone/mic jack. Dropping the phone, even gently, seems mess up that jack. I returned my first treo 650 as defective, and got a new one. The same thing happened to my new 650 after I simply compressed the phone in my breast coat pocket by holding my mail against my chest.
I can't get a new one because the replacement treo comes with no warranty of any kind. :(
My advice would be to find a PDA/phone repair service to repair the jack or diagnose the problem if it turns out not to be the jack.
