So I tried what u said about clearing the memory and taking out the battery but still my camera does not open up. Is there anything else other then taking it back?? Pls email me at email@example.com thanks
Also make sure to clear out your Internet Explorer files. Open Internet Explorer, go to Menu (at the bottom) -> Tools -> Options, then the Memory tab, and select the Delete Files button. It will clear up memory and maybe enough to run the camera and/or other apps.

Try holding down the camera button for a few seconds from the home screen, and then let go. There should be a spinning circle on the screen. Wait for that to disappear into the camera application (the circle will disappear, and then the camera app will load up.) Also, CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ENOUGH MEMORY ON YOUR PHONE. I think you should have at least 10 MB of free (unused) program and storage memory. Try these things. Also, this phone can be sluggish, so I would suggest trying to wait a little longer for the camera to open up. Also, try taking the battery out of the phone for 3 sec (soft reset) and then putting it back in and starting the phone up. Then open the camera FIRST before you open any other programs. I WOULD ALSO HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING A MICRO SD STORAGE CARD FOR THIS PHONE, and storing all your programs, data, AS MANY ITEMS AS POSSIBLE on it so that when you have to HARD RESET YOUR PHONE, if ever, you won't lose as much information.
Can happen if switching applications from the blackberry key menus - leaves a trail of applications open in memory. Can try shutting down and re-booting the phone (most thorough way is to take out battery when it's off and put it in again after a minute), then try the camera before you use anything else. Does that help?
on the top left hand side of your phone there is a slide button. I believe yours is slid to the bottom, the third option. That makes the slideshow appear everytime you open the camera option. Slide it all the way to the top. That is the camera option. The middle one is the camcorder
do a reset on the phone take out the batery and put it back in, if you have already doen that and it doesnt work still i would reset the settings byy goign into security options in your settigns tab and to reset settings to factory settings. but put all your pics, rigntones and contacts saved on your computer first. do you have a memory card? if you get one this could fix the issue as well
I have had this problem for about 8 months. I have tried everything and nothing works. I accidently found out a fix:
It appears the problem of my Pearl was the bad connection of the camera. When I start the camera, if I squeeze the phone body hard around camera area to make a better connection, the camera works right away. This works for me 100%. I hope you have the same luck.
your are doing everything right......if its not a software issue, you might need to return the phone and get another one. you are still within buyers remourse. if you want to try and fix it, try just taking the batter out or doing a master reset by goign through start, settings, system, clear storage. it will delete the infor not stored on the sim or media card
This happens also because the RAM memory is full by programs opened before. For example, whenever you turn of any program or aplication like contacts or messages, it doesnt turn off at all by clicking the X, it remains opened and you have to go to Star, Set up, then click on Memory, then on running programs, and stop them. This way ram will be able to use the camera and store pics on storage card. Do this also when you see that camera looks like unfocused, its always the ram memory.
