Question about Audiovox FPE3205 32 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

Inputs all red...

Ok so i've broke this beast (Audiovox FPE3205) apart and think i've narrowed the problem down to the main input block (I dont know the name of the part, but its the part with the VGA, DVI, and two component ins on it). Which the problem is that all the channels only show red, except for the VGA which works pretty good, most of the time. The OSDs look perfect, its some kind of problem in the inputs. So basically i wanted confirm this and ask where i could get this part.

How to I get the TV to show TV input. Show me everything else?

Hi EA.

Some of the answer will depend on the particular model of TV you have. Most flat panel TVs have multiple possible inputs, with some array of choices like HDMI 1, HDMI 2, Component, VGA, Cable that you can toggle through with your remote.

Most of them, in my experience, also will check first for inputs from the different components, and skip them if they don't show a video signal. In some cases, as was the case with my past Mitsubishi rear projection TV, each input channel had an option for either showing it or skipping it when cycling through inputs - that way if you just had Cable and a DVD player, you didn't have to cycle through 8 other inputs each time you switched.

If you're saying that a VGA input to the TV shows up fine on the screen, but other inputs don't, then that narrows it down and shows that the screen is working OK. I'm not completely clear then whether you have things plugged into other inputs like HDMI or component. if nothing else is plugged in, I'd guess the system detects no inputs from those ports and ignores them. If they are plugged in, but you don't see them, then you likely will need to activate or toggle those particular channels to be included amongst selections.

Hoping this helps, and Happy Holidays!

I have an Audiovox FPE3205 that the picture doesn't hold the clarity and gets blurry and grainy. Support said that it needed to be reset, but I've done that and still the same issue

I do not want to type the answer to this problem because I do not like to be the bearer of possible bad news. This television having been manufactured around 2006 may have reached the end of its life. As years go by, the picture quality on all LCD televisions diminishes.

Ok, ok, I got that out of the way first. Now forget that I just said all of that for a moment. This television will display a 720p resolution from its component input (green, blue, red, white, red). Make sure that whatever is connected to that input is only set to display images at a 1080i or 720p resolution. A wii or a regular dvd player not a bluray should look ok on the composite/RCA input. I'm not recommending the S-Video input for anything, and of course a computer can be connected to the VGA input still.

If the television looks bad even when displaying content on that 720p input then service can be considered and boards changed if you want to put money into this television rather than purchasing another one.

Audiovox FPE 3205 blue light on but warm-up time now 45 min.

There are some already dead/dying components and/or dry solder. I suggest it is better to refer it to a qualified service technician, since the back cover has to be opened for investigation/rectification.

I have fpe3205 power comes on but no piture or sound .how do i truble shoot to find problem?

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have tobuy and try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.4_3_2012_2_01_15_pm.jpg

Look for caps on power supply board puffed up like these--most common issue.

hi welcome to fixya
i want to clarify first the problem sir so as of now the problem with your tv won't power on then you are using again the old main board is that right ? when you use the new replacement main board the tv is functioning will the only problem is that the HDMI / DVI inputs doesn't work. and now you encountered power supply problem like won't start up or something that cut the supply in which the stand by indicator is turn off so as my idea it has a problem with the old board. but before you come up with the board making sure all the connectors coming from the power supply is properly connected to the main board as will as flexible and lvds cable for the T-con board is properly inserted.just let me know if is that what you are asking for so i can give you additional solution thanks for consulting the fixya.

No sound

Disconnect any audio / video cables going to your input sources. Then plug only 1 component in and see if it works. Sometimes there is a feature in certain tvs to disable the audio from the TV menu. Use your tv remote to cycle through the menu settings to see if your audio / sound was accidentally disabled. All else fails call Toshiba, they generally will help you for free.

Hello, I have a Audiovox FPE3205 that the power just cut off and won't come back on. I'm thinking it has a blown fuse but I don't know where to look. Can you help?

There is a fuse on the power board labeled F901( 5 amp) for the AC supply. Therre is also a fuse, F902 (3.15 amp) between the large capacitor and the heat sink, for the DC side.
The power supply for these TVs is weak. Many capacitors fail leading to other parts burning out, like the PWM IC, ICE2A180Z and the current sense resistor R959 (2.2 ohm, 2 watt).
I recommend trying to find a replacement power board.

Sound on tv

Check in your menu, and see if the internal speakers are on or off. If off turn them on. Check connectors, and plugs on main, and audio section of the board inside the tv.reseat them,(wiggle). On the back of the tv plug a cable into one of the aux audio inputs, and put the tv on that particular input like video 1, then touch the tip of the cable. If you hear a buzz the audio is working. If that doesn't narrow it down It's time for the shop. Hope this helps, I don't have a manual for this TV.
