Question about Iomega 1TB Home Media Network Hard Drive (34337BN)

2 Answers

I can see the Imogega Home Network Drive in my workgroup, including viewing the system info. I try to open one of the folders and I am told: \\Imoega-090c8b\pbsafebup is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found. This has been working for several weeks without problems. Using the home storage manager I see that no Network drive letters are displayed and when I try to map a network drive I am informed that the network path is not acceptable. Therefore I cannot access my valuable backups.

This (and other problems having to do with accessing the drive or its folders) can be solved by:

1. Removethe drive from its case
2. Plug it into a computer
3. Boot the computer to a Linux-based OS -- if you don't have a PC running Linux, download one of many Live CDs images available, e.g. Knoppix, and burn a CD with it (Live CD images are bootable), then boot the PC using the CD
4. Login as the root user and open a terminal session
5. If necessary, 'umount' the drive, e.g. 'umount /dev/sda2'
6. Run 'xfs_repair -L <partition>' where <partition> is the partition to be repaired - in my case it was /dev/sda2, so running...

xfs_repair -L /dev/sda2

...was the command to do the repair. Note that the command is cAsE sEnSiTiVe.

You may get a message about destroying a log file (that's what -L does) -- it's OK -- I've had to do this several times and no harm has come of it.

The process can take several minutes, and at the end there may be a message about a bad superblock -- this is also harmless, so far as I've seen.

7. Power down the PC
8. Remove the drive, put it back in its enclosure, and Voila! -- all should be OK upon booting it up!

SOURCE: the folders for the iomega storage drive no longer

Make sure you are logged in as the Administrator of your computer. Power cycle (turn it off and back on) the device. If that doesn't fix the problem. Try factory resetting the unit (depress the reset button on the back of the unit for 4-5 seconds).

I want to start a network between my laptop and desktop

There are lots of guides on the internet...
BUT as a minimum you will need...
All the computers on your home network connected through the same router (Wired or Wifi).
All the computers on the same "Workgroup"..Choose a workgroup name and change all the computers to the same workgroup.
You will then need to change the properties of any drive/folder or files to enable sharing.
You can also drag stuff into the shared folder.
This can still be quite hit and miss, especially if your computers are using different versions of windows.
Good luck

Windows Vista not accessing shared folders on network. It keeps asking to log onto network PC and keeps saying cannot log in when trying accounts on the network pc. Both PC's are on the same workgroup and...

This is a usuall problem when connecting Vista and XP, specially when your vista is a 64-bit and your XP is 32-bit. What you need to do is to manually map the folders on the vista by opening windows explorer and then clicking on Map network drive, you need to put in the exact folder location. Next thing is you need to add user not only activationg the allow access, you need to add the user on the shared folder, you are only using workgroups, unlike domain networks, you just have to give them permission.

How to i configure my system Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO to allow a home network to see all the PC on the netwrok plus my Network Storage. My internet conection works fine?

For each of your computers, right click on 'My Computer' then click on 'Properties'.

Under the 'Computer Name' tab, make sure each of your computers are members of the same workgroup ID. Just make a name up and use it for all of your computers.

The information that you want to be shared between your network computers should be placed in the 'shared' folder.

After doing this, make sure all of your computers are running and that they each have a working internet connection.

Go to My Network Places, click on view workgroup computers.
You should be able to see all of the computers in your network.

As far as configuring the router goes, if you haven't changed the settings in the past, Nothing should have to be altered in order to view other computers on your network.

Home network

hi, 1) Check the status of the "computer browser" and "netlogon" 2) check the network configuration on both end IP=? Netmask=? Workgroup=? if these are not in same range make it same range any verify if pinging is happening. 3) Check if any firewall is causing the system, if firewall is exist try to open all ports for temporary to check. 4) go to control panel==> double click the network setup wizard==> "and follow the steps" remember that you are keeping same workgroup. 5)run antivirus and antispyware if any network threats are causing the problem if it didn't help you, write your OS version and applications name that have been installed on the system. thanks Arun
