Question about KitchenAid Ovens

2 Answers

While taking a pie out of the oven some of it spilled. There are several notches on the top of the door and the ingredients went down and between the glass. Closing the oven door you can see it. I tried to take out the screws to take it apart but it didn't work. Any ideas?

This is a kitchen aid double oven. The notches are probaly four inches long but only a half inch wide. Very hard to find a tool or brush to fit inside to get to the glass.

What is the model of your oven

First if you are familiar with door hinges you can pull out the whole door from the hinges and work on a bench. If you find it difficult you can work directly on the oven.

We have here below a link with door parts layout which shows clearly every part and screw. Now the way you should proceed is to remove the screws that hold the internal liner which over the door insulation and then internal glass.

Try this: Take a bottle type brush (with a long handle) and spray a sock with Windex. After you do that, take the oven drawer out of the oven and lay it on the floor. In the bottom of the oven door there are holes where you can shove the brush up in between the glass and this will remove the mess. Do this several times until the glass is completely clean.

Why does my oven smoke when in use

If the top lifts up to clean you should check under there. Its like a drip pan and if anything got spilled on the top and went down it could be the problem.

Microwave oven cuts out after pie inside catches fire.

When you mention the fuse, if you mean the one inside the microwave, then your magnetron is probably damaged and you should just get a new microwave.

If you're talking about the fuse in the electrical fusebox, then you could try opening the case of the microwave and finding the fuse inside. If you aren't familiar with working on HIGH VOLTAGE, then don't do this, take it to a service tech. But if it's out of warrenty and you are experience with working safely, you can look for a fuse inside the unit. As I said above, though if you do change it and the oven still won't work, your tube is probably dead and it's not worth the money to get a replacement part.

But again, I'll stress that the microwave has a HIGH VOLTAGE POWER SUPPLY inside, and if you aren't familiar with working on things like this then just take it to an appliance repair store.

Spills in between glasses of the oven door.

The door must be taken apart at least most of the way to clean glass. Just so you know, this is a problem with a LOT of the newer makes and models. If there are 2 screws behind the handle, take them out and some of them come apart enough to get your hand a paper towel in to clean. Otherwise, the door must be removed and completly diss-assembled.

Whirlpool oven accubake system

I have a whirlpool accubake wall oven. Half-way through baking a pie ,unknown to me, the oven went to the self-clean mode , the door locked and the pie started to burn. I tried to turn the oven off but it would not cut off. I immediately ran to the house's main power and turned off the oven breaker. I waited for a short time to let the oven cool enough to open the door and get the burned pie out, then went back to turn my breaker back on and the oven (even though in the off mode) started heating again with the bottom unit turning red again. I had to then go back and pull the power. We tried this several times trying to push the off button but the oven will not go off until we throw the breaker. Help please!
