I cannot connect my Wii to the internet. Is there a part that I need to connect, or is there something else that I need to do in order to get the wireless connection working?

Here is a step by step instruction on how to connect your Nintendo Wii to the internet. Please note that connecting the Wii to the internet does require a wireless connection, or wireless router for a signal.

copy and past this into your internet browser.. if you should receive an error for any reason, here directions and a link to solve it.

    Error Code 51030, 51031, 51032
It appears that your Wii console's Internet connection may be affected by wireless interference. Try the following:
      • Change your wireless router's channel to 1 or 11
Changing the wireless channel on your router may help. Most wireless routers have a channel range of 1 through 11. The best channels to try are usually 1 and 11, as they do not overlap with other channels. Typically, the channel settings for your router will be found in the router's main "Wireless" tab.
      • Where is your wireless router located?
Move your router away from walls and off the floor and try to place it in a central location in your home. Also, keep it away from metal objects such as metal filing cabinets which can cause interference.
      • Look for other devices
Noise from cordless devices (cordless phones), or wireless electronics (wireless keyboards, headphones, cell phones), especially those using the 2.4GHz frequency, can interfere with your wireless signal. Also, older microwave models can cause wireless interference. Avoid electronics that use the 2.4GHz frequency, instead look for devices that use the 5.8GHz or 900MHz frequencies.

I just signed up for netflix and am trying to hook it up to my wii to watch movies. The wii is properly connected and hooked up, and we have a wireless internet connection in my home, however when i go to...

Error code 51030 means you Wii is unable to connect to your wireless network.
Try unplugging your modem and wireless router, then plugging them back in after a couple minutes.
While you're waiting for your modem and router, delete your network setting from your Wii, and set them back up once your router and modem are back up.
Your wireless router's setting might have changed and your Wii might not be able to properly connect.

You may need to update your wii console in order for you to get to the wii shop. Try a system update from the system menu and then try again with the wii shop. I hope this helps!

Cannot connect the wii to wireless internet

Goto 'wii options' (bottom left of screen). Wii settings-> then page over to 'Internet' then 'connection settings' then 'conection 1'. Clear any setings. Then go back to connection 1 and click 'wireless connection' then 'search for access point'. If your wireless router is set up right in your home then you should see it as an option when you click 'OK'. Choose your connection, then enter your router password. If your wii can't find an access point then either your router isn't set up correctly or your wii's wireless is defective.

On the Wii screen go to the bottom round button 'Wii' for Wii Options.
Then select Wii Settings. Then click on the arrow to go to Wii System Settings 2.
    Select 'Internet', then 'Connection Settings'.

We have wii but want to connect to netflix what is a lan device and do I need it?

A Local Area Network device is a router. You need a router to connect your Wii to either wired or wireless so that your Wii can utilize your internet connection. Your Wii already has a wireless network adapter inside it so to set up a connection to a wireless router you just click on the Wii button on the lower left corner of the dashboard, then click on the right arrow to go to page 2 of the settings screen, then click on network settings and then click on a network connection, then follow the directions to set up your Wii on your network. You can either set up a wired or a wireless connection, but since wireless routers are cheap and easier to find than routers with usb connections (my Wii doesn't have an ethernet port) I suggest a wireless connection.

    INTERNET CONNECTION

To connect the Wii to the Internet you will need a wireless router in your home. Otherwise, you have to buy Wii lan adapter to connect it with an ethernet cable.
To connect, go to Wii settings, then Internet, then Connection settings, then Connection 1.
Then click wireless connection and then let the Wii search for a wireless access point (a wireless router).
When your router appears on the list select it.
If your router has a key, then you have to enter it.
Press OK and you are finished.

    Wii connection issues.

You can check if the problem is with the internet connection going to the Wii or just the wireless connection.

When you loose connection, check the Wii's ip address. If it does not have an ip address(or ip is 169.xx.xx.xx) that means that the Wii is disconnecting from the wireless network. You can then try other wireless channels on your router.

If the Wii is still getting an ip of 192.168.x.x, that means that the problem is the internet from the router. You might need to forward ports on the router for your Wii.
