The dimmer is worn out

Wall switches and dimmers don't come apart for repairs >> nobody sells parts >> and the wiring didn't suddenly go bad.

Lutron Dimmer: 'IN' does not always equal "ON"

These are probably three-way switches being used as two-way. If so, then the switches will have three terminals, but only use two. Just switch one of your wires to the other terminal. If the light will not light, that was the wrong wire. Don't mess with it without turning off the breaker! Good luck.

Try to add a dimmer but we have 2 blacks and 1 red wire. Product has 2 black and 1 green. How to connect?

Usually this is indicative that you have a 3-way lighting circuit, but only a single-pole dimmer. For most lighting circuits, the red wire and one of the black wires are supposed to be run over to a second light switch. You need dimmer rated as a "3-way" in order for that to work. If you get stuck, I would call the manufacturer's tech support number at 1-800-523-9466. They're available 24/7 and it will not cost you anything.

No, you can only use one dimmer, the other switch has to be a regular three-way switch.

I have two black wires in box attached to regular light switch & want to know if I can install a Skylark S-603PG single pole dimmer switch which has one black , one red&white, red and green wires

This is single-pole -or- 3-way dimmer
Manual shows on following link:

1) Manual says: The red/white wire is not used in a single-pole application. Twist a wire
nut over this wire for a single-pole application.
2) Green wire connects to bare ground wire. Or bare ground to bare ground.
3) Connect dimmer-red and dimmer-black to either insulated wire that came off of old switch

Problem with 1000 w sliding dimmer switch; lights stay dim regardless of slider position but eventually brighten

I think you need a provide a little more information in order for there to be a possible solution. I'm particular confused by your use of the term "eventually" - these are analog dimmers, there are no "smarts" involved with this products, so I don't get how it would magically turn itself on to a higher brightness. Regardless, you will be able to get a much quicker answer by just calling Lutron directly. Their tech support number is 1-800-523-9466, they're available 24/7, and it won't cost you anything. They can help you diagnose whether its something related to installation or whether the product has simply hit the end of its life, and they can probably assist you with gettting a replacement as well.

Ok i installed the Maestro IR on a switch that runs a celing fan with a light on it. i turned the power back on in the room and the light was flickering and the fan was unresponsive. please help!!

Lutron Maestro IR shows several model numbers:

You posted under MIR600 single pole digital fade dimmer for incandescent and halogen.
Installation manual:
If this is not your dimmer, then add a comment with exact model number so I can read that manual and look for trouble spots.

The manual does not say 'Fan'
It appears this dimmer is for incandescent and Halogen lights.
Manual gives Lutron 24hr/7day tech support number 1-800-523-9466

If you do not want to add a comment for more free assistance, and do not want to call Lutron, then take advantage of fixya phone service.

The internal plastic rocker slide has broken. Don't care to spend $30 for a new switch. Just need the plastic rocker slide piece. Where can I get this?

Wall devices do not have replacement parts.
I was just at Lowes buying GFCI receptacles and noticed they have ordinary switches for less than $2.
The Lutron designer devices are more expensive. The local box store may have a reasonable alternative.

When replacing a dimmer or timer, check a couple things. Not every dimmer works for all types of lighting. Some devices are for incandescent only. Some devices are rated for 500Watts and others are rated for 1000Watts. You may have a 1000W dimmer, and they are more expensive as you know.
