I checked the overload klixon cut out at the compressor it seemed to be fine with a meter also checked compressor winding and got ohm readings around 6.5 ohms, I dont understand how it could overheat OL because i let it set off unplugged for ten minutes and it will only run for about 30 seconds after plugging it in to the wall outlet, also right after pluged in the ice water temp lcd panel will slightly flicker when the compressor cut on then it will trip off. Model #LRSC2641ST

    Thanks,

The problem is with compressor. The overload protector cut it off to protect it from burn up.
The two most possible faults are.
First the lost of refrigerant gas can make compressor overheat so the overload will cut it off. You need to check freon gas and charge if needed.
Second the compresor winding have been burned and thats cause the overload cutout. You will need a new compressor. You can test withun ohm meter the compressor windings.

From the data you have in your reply the other only thing that can cut the compressor in so short time without any reason is relay on the control board. However as you may already know you cannot fix the control panel therefore you will need a new control board

Check to see if breaker is tripped .Unplugged fridge and check to see if there is power to outlet .If there is power to the outlet then follow the fridge power cord and check that connection .Maybe a burnt wire

REFRIGERATOR KEEPS TRIPPING THE GFCI OUTLET

A GFCI detects shorts in an electrical system and isolates power to prevent that device from harming other components upstream. GFCI's do go bad so that possibility exists. However, I would recommend trying to plug in your refrigerator into another outlet in your kitchen that has a different GFCI plug. If it does not trip then the GFCI needs to be replaced. If you do not have another available GFCI outlet and you plug it into a regular outlet, your breaker for that service line MAY trip. Better off testing with another GFCI. If your second GFCI trips, then the problem is with your refrigerator...meaning you have a short in your refrigerator. If you think this is something you can troubleshoot...BE CAREFUL!!! Always unplug your refrigerator before going into the components of the refrigerator. One thing you can do is turn both the freezer and refrigerator temperatures OFF or to their lowest setting. Plug your refrigerator in and see if the GFCI trips. If it trips you have a major short...probably in the bottom of the refrigerator. If it does not trip, turn the freezer temperature on first and see if it will run without tripping the GFCI. If it runs, then turn the freezer temp OFF. Then repeat the process testing the refrigerator components. Ice makers have been known to generate shorts in the system as well. There are various ways to troubleshoot a fridge. If you do not have the required electrical troubleshooting skills then PLEASE call a service technician.

Few months old WM3987HW won't turn on - seems dead, unplugging and replugging won't work; outlet has power

Hi Rick,

I found your answer to another person's problem with the LG washer/dryer not turning on. We have the same problem. My husband found a piece of plastic near one set of the fuses that looks warped - like it got too hot. Is there any advice you can give? It's a piece next to the box by the main power cord with a metal coil.

Dometic RM2652 RV Refrigerator trips GFCI

Hi!!

Right beside the circuit panel, there is a grill, remove the 4 screws to gain access to the transformer/battery charger. You'll see a double power outlet, one cord is from fridge, the other is from the transformer. UNPLUG Transformer cord and reset breaker.

It will take a couple of minutes for the fridge to change to AC if you have it in AUTO. If everything works fine, REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSFORMER/BATTERY CHARGER.

Don't forget to rate this answer, Good Luck!!!

FREEZER WORKS...FRIDGE DOESN'T

Hi,...

In that case you need to check this

  • Make sure the refrigerator is plugged in securely
  • Check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker
  • Test the power outlet for current
  • Inspect the electrical cord for damage
  • Eliminate use of an extension cord, if any is being used
  • Check the outlet voltage
Good luck !!!

Everytime I plug in the power cord, it trips the breaker.

Refrigerators are not designed to run on a GFCI. Try a heavy duty extension cord to the fridge from a outlet that is not GFCI protected. If it still trips you probably have a short circuit in the compressor.
