Hello there:
It pumps, but doesn't spin If your washer pumps out the water but doesn't spin, check these: The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it. A belt may be broken. Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.) The clutch may be worn. If your washer is a GE, it may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician. The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor. The transmission may not be shifting properly. Older washers produced by Whirlpool® have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may drain the water but not spin. This is a complex system, if your washer has a shifter problem, you may want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it. The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.

Samsung silvercare washer will not spin

How did you test the pump? These were my symptoms as well, and my pump was working intermittently. Sometimes, I could test the pump and it would work perfectly, and sometimes it would not work at all. Try running a load; the next time the machine won't spin, use the drain tube to drain water manually (I used a big shallow pan). There's a sensor in the washer that won't let spin start unless the water is below a certain level. In self-test mode, there's even a way to see what the machine is seeing as the water level. Anyway, let the water drain out manually with the drain tube; the machine should start spinning once the water is below the specified level. If the machine displays "Err" or "ND" before you have the chance to drain the water, you can hit pause once or twice and it will try to start the spin cycle again. To directly answer your question: If the machine will not start the spin cycle, it could be because the washer thinks the water level is not low enough to start the spin cycle. This could be because the water level is not low enough (ie a pump that's not working properly or a clogged hose), because the sensor that detects the water level is not working properly, or because the motherboard is malfunctioning. My discussion with a repair professional indicated that the pump is (by far) the most common culprit. I bought mine on Ebay very inexpensively (around $35, I think?). It is pretty quick and straightforward to disassemble the machine (check youtube for how-to videos). Just be careful -- they apparently used 2 different pumps more or less interchangeably on this model. Check if your pump is gray or black before ordering; I bought the wrong one. I made it fit because we needed the washer, but I ended up soldering the wires to the pump and re-routing some wires to make it work. It was a hassle. The electrical connector is different between the two pumps, so you'll be saving yourself a lot of hassle by ordering the right one.

Model GLTF167A0S0 Serial XC22704657... The final spin frequently doesn't work. I tried another wash cycle and the "high speed" spin didn't work. I can manually start the cycle and it...

If the water is pumping out fine you may need new shocks. But if it is slow pump the shaft on the pump is loose and causing the noise and possibly the spin issue. If it is loud when it does go into a spin (sounds like a jet engine) you have bad bearings. Big bucks to fix.

Water not pumping out

Water is not pumping out since the drain pump is not working. This pump is a separate motor besides the main motor. The main motor has 2 functions, one is for agitation and the other is for spinning. Check to make sure it is spinning then the problem is only at the drain pump. If it is not spinning then the problem is at the mechanism for spinning, not the drain pump. Good luck.

Won't pump out water at the end of wash or rinse cycle.

I don't know this model at all, but hada similar set of syptoms on an electrolux .....

Just a thought, but have you checked the pump chanber is not impeded by a stray hairgrip, or bit of wire?

The fact it doesn't pump when it should, but allows water to pass when the centrifugal force of a spin cycle builds up, would indicate that maybe its the pump that either has a jammed impeller, or a blown motor (or fuse).

Had the same problem. The water pump is not working and since it cant drain water it wont spin. A easy fix. There's a magnet located on the water pump thats comes lose. Simply tie it back into place.
