My Kenmore 10722 dishwsher NORMAL WASH light is blinking and the machine will not run

The blinking "clean light" is a common problem with some of the Kenmore and Whirlpool models. I believe the problem is attributed to water supply temperatures being too low when filling. Apparently, there are some sensitivity issues with the temperature sensing circuits in some dishwashers. There is a reset sequence that you can try to clear the fault. Push the NORMAL WASH then HEATED DRY buttons in that sequence two to three times. The unit will enter diagnostics mode, but can be stopped by pressing the CANCEL button. This will clear any existing faults and should return the dishwasher to normal operation. To keep the fault from returning, it is recommended that you run your hot water faucet in the kitchen to heat the water in the supply line for the dishwasher (most dishwashers are fed from the kitchen sink supply line). The theory is that you will fill the dishwasher with hot water instead of the cool water that is normally in the lines before the hot water from the hot water tank heats the line. This should satisfy the requirements of the temperature sensing circuits. If the fault reappears, there should be a tech sheet located inside the lower panel under the door that explains what the fault is. The flashing light will be a series of flashes, followed by a pause. If you indeed have a component problem, it will depend on what the flashing light sequence is in determining WHAT component is bad. Let me know if this helps you. Try resetting it. Locate the switch in your breaker box, and flip it off- then on again. Hope that works!

you may have inadvertently set the lock on function..
check this out from your manual...

Lock On
Use the Lock On to prevent unintended use of the dishwasher
between cycles. You can also use the lock feature to prevent
unintended cycle or option changes during a cycle.
When LOCK ON is lit, all buttons are disabled.
NOTE: The dishwasher door can be opened while the controls
are locked. However, the lock must be turned off and the Start/
Resume button pressed to resume the cycle.
To turn on the Lock
Press and hold HEATED DRY for 4 seconds. LOCK ON glows.
If you press any pad while your dishwasher is locked, the light
flashes 3 times.
NOTE: If the Heated Dry option is selected, the light will
temporarily turn off until Lock On glows.
To turn off the Lock
Press and hold HEATED DRY for 4 seconds. The light turns off.

for kenmore elite, ultrawash models, try pushing hi temp scrub, then air dry, then hi temp scrub, air dry - all lights should come on. Close door and hold in start button for 5 seconds or so - display will show 'd1' and it will go through a diagnostic cycle.

heat wash then heat dry, repeat once, all lights should be on now. Close the door shut and hit 'start/resume'. It should run through a quick, what appears to be a diagnostic, then machine should start
