Opening case of Dell 1907FP to resolve stuck power button

I have a stuck power button also on my Dell 1907FP and need to remove the front case. Can you describe what you mean by pushing in on the tabs? More detail would be helpful on how to remove the case. Also, were you able to repair the power button. Mine is stuck in the off position. Thanks for your help.

While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards Every computer comes with its own internal cooling system. Dell workstation desktops are no different. Your computer's cooling system consists of a heat sink and cooling fan. The function of the cooling fan is to regulate the temperature of your computer's processor. If the fan stops working your processor will overheat and cause damage to your motherboard. Fortunately, Dell desktops have a built-in alert system that tells you when your fan stops working.

Shut down your desktop computer. Disconnect the power cable from the computer's back panel. Then disconnect any external devices. Rotate the computer so the back panel is facing you. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) strap to your wrist and its wire clip to the outer casing of the computer. Lay the computer tower on its left side. Press on the side panel release buttons situated on the top and bottom panels. Grasp the side panel and rotate it away from the computer until the internal contents of the computer are accessible. Locate the cooling fan duct near the center of the motherboard. Lift the duct off of the cooling fan so it is in the upright position. Disconnect the fan's power cable from the motherboard. Disengage and remove the retaining clips from each side of the cooling fan assembly. Lift the cooling fan out of the motherboard. Set it aside. Place the air duct back over the cooling fan assembly. Rotate the side access panel downward over the computer's opening. Press down on the side access panel until it snaps into place. Place the computer vertically, and then reconnect all cables and devices to the computer.

The power button to the my DELL LCD monitor is stuck. It won't "click" when you push it like the 4 other buttons on the bottom of the monitor. I think it may be stuck in...Is there an easy way to fix...

This is very common problem with this series, the plastic actuator is broken off, very cheaply made and poorly design part.
I have lo luck locating this 5-button plastic switch assembly yet.
Be real carefule when separating the front bezel from the bac cover, it has very small ribbon cable attached to the front panel switch assembly that can easily be ripped apart.

Unable to remove cover from dell dimension 8400 desktop pc

This Dell Support, and the Service Manual for the Dimension 8400,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8400/SM/index.htm

In the Service Manual main menu, left-click on - Opening the Computer Cover

1) Computer off, and unplugged from power. (Always unplug the power cable from the surge protector. Then if the power cable needs to be removed from the computer, do so)

2) Remove all cables to the computer

3) Lay the computer on it's Right side.
(As you face the computer, your right side is the computers Right)

4) There is a Release button on the Top of the computer case, and a Release Button on the Bottom of the computer case.
These are located at the Rear of the computer.

The preferred method of opening the computer case, is to press one release button in at a time, and slightly lift up on the side of the computer case, where that release button is located near.

Then go to the other side of the computer case, press this release button in, and lift up on the computer case.

The computer case opens like a clamshell. The computer case is hinged at the front.

Example:
Computer laying on it's right side. Press the Top release button in, and lift up on the computer cover located near the Top.

Now press the release button on the Bottom. Lift the computer case up.

The computer case opens from the back, towards the front, like opening a car hood.

DELL 1907FP MONITOR

There were no screws on the back of my monitor so that was not an option for me. I figured I didn't have much to lose, so I took a very thin and small screw driver and pried the on-off button right out of its socket, which does break it. To the left, inside the hole, you can see where a tab on the button pressed against a small circular inner button. I pressed that with the screwdriver and the monitor turned right on. I replaced the button for the sake of cosmetics and will never touch it again. If I leave the monitor for any extendd period of time I will simply unplug it.

Height adjust for Dell UltraSharp 1907FP 19" LCD Monitor

Is it stuck, or just not adjustable? Try setting it on a phonebook. I'm kidding. If it is an adjustable base, sometimes they need a little downward pressure before the button will depress and allow it to move upward.

Thanks,

Tantong's description is correct -- press on side tabs and pry apart the face while working from the middle of the sides to the top. Once the sides are separated, remove the top, and remove the bottom last.
